Jess looked on anxiously as Aeon rebooted.
She'd powered down voluntarily as she deleted her memories of Ladybug and Chat Noir's identities, so in theory Jess knew her girlfriend would be fine- but that didn't stop her from worrying.
When Aeon's eyes finally lit up, and she began to whirr back to life, Jess let out a sigh of relief.
"Jess?" Aeon asked cautiously as she sat up. "I seem to be missing some memory files."
Jess smiled softly. "I know. You deleted them yourself, A."
"I see. What of the visiting French students? The last thing I remember, we were about to rendezvous at their hotel."
"You went that far back?" Jess asked, surprised. "But we didn't see Chat Noir or Ladybug until-" she cut herself off, understanding dawning on her. Clearly the visiting heroes had also been visiting students, if Aeon had wiped those memories as well.
"Jess?" Aeon asked again.
"Sorry," Jess muttered. "The visiting students are already on their way home. Let me try to catch you up."
Jess explained the events of Techno-pirate's akumatization, right through to her own graduation from Sparrow to the hero identity Eagle, and Aeon's promise to alter her own memories to preserve the secret of Ladybug and Chat Noir's identities.
While she spoke, Jess couldn't help but wonder which of the French students might have been their partners-in-arms.
Really, only two of them made sense. The two who had been right there when Ladybug and Chat Noir first appeared. The two that had been missing while Ladybug and Chat Noir had been AWOL.
“Shit.”
“What’s wrong?” Aeon asked gently.
“You deleted your memories for nothing,” Jess grumbled. “I figured them out.”
