Work Text:
Kojiro couldn’t believe how fast time goes by. It felt like yesterday when he kissed Kaoru for the first time ten years ago; or when they finally got married nearly three years ago. It was incredible to think that they had been in each other’s lives for over twenty years. And Kojiro felt so damn lucky every day just to think that he was the one that would get to spend day after day with Kaoru until his last breath.
He wanted to show his husband how lucky he made him feel, and their anniversary was approaching. What better date to spoil your husband to no end if not that one? Well, Kojiro loved to spoil him everyday, but he put even more effort into it when it was about their anniversary.
They usually went to celebrate it traveling somewhere in Europe, but this year Kojiro wanted to do something different; something more intimate and relaxing here in Okinawa. So this year they would celebrate their anniversary in a beautiful traditional hotel in the mountains with a private onsen.
When they finally arrived at the hotel they both looked in awe at the place. The hotel was surrounded by cherry blossoms in full bloom, making it look like pink snow was falling. It was beautiful; it was perfect. The inside of the hotel was even more beautiful. Kaoru felt like home, the place reminded him of his parent’s house, but with the relaxing sound of nature surrounding them. The sun came through the shoji doors, making everything look a lot more warmer. It felt like they were the only ones in that hotel besides the hostess that led them to their room. It was bigger than Kojiro expected. But the best part was outside. Their private onsen was huge; views of the mountains and the cherry blossoms were visible from there. The sun was starting to set, making everything glow in a beautiful mixture of orange and yellow; making it look like it was something out of a fairy tale.
But Kojiro thought that the most beautiful view was actually in front of him, because his husband was the most beautiful man in the whole planet and universe.
“Happy anniversary, baby.” Kojiro said in a whisper, hugging Kaoru from behind; kissing his neck slow and tenderly.
Kaoru caressed Kojiro’s arms and smiled softly.
“Happy anniversary.” He said back, turning around to be able to kiss his husband properly.
After they got dinner and drank some white wine to make a toast, they relaxed for a while enjoying the last bits of sun in the distance. And Kojiro decided to surprise Kaoru with something else.
“Baby, can you take off your yukata, please?” Kojiro asked with a mischievous but soft smile.
Kaoru narrowed his eyes at him.
“Why?” Kaoru asked suspiciously.
Kojiro laughed, getting up and taking out something from his suitcase. It was a bottle of massage oil. He showed it to Kaoru and he smiled brightly. Kaoru loved to receive massages.
Kaoru beamed in anticipation.
“Let me extend the futon first,” Kaoru said eagerly, taking the huge futon out from the closet. He then undressed, laying on his stomach on the futon. “Okay, I’m ready.”
Kojiro laughed again, positioning himself over Kaoru. He poured some oil on his hands, rubbing them first to warm the oil, and started to spread it on Kaoru’s back and shoulders; the pleasant scent of lavender surrounding them. Kojiro’s hands knew his husband’s skin by heart; they knew where Kaoru loved and didn’t like to be touched. For Kojiro, caressing Kaoru’s skin was like listening to his favorite song; it was familiar, he knew it word by word; and he never got tired of listening to it over and over again. That’s how he felt about his husband; he could never get enough of him.
Slowly, he started to undo the knots of his lower back, making him groan in a mixture of pain and pleasure. He kept going upwards, undoing the knots of his back and shoulders. Then he went back to his lower back and stayed there the longest. Kaoru’s lower back was where all the pain focused more for all the hours he had to stay seated in a seiza pose while he was working in the calligraphy studio.
After he was done with his back, he went for his arms and hands, which as his lower back, they endured a lot of pain after working so many hours.
Kaoru kept groaning, the pain visible in the furrow of his brows, until he slowly started to sigh contently and his whole body relaxed completely.
“You good?” Kojiro asked with an amused smile.
Kaoru hummed affirmatively, a big smile spreading on his face.
Kojiro kept massaging him just for the sake of making him feel good, which was one of the things he loved doing the most.
As soon as it got darker the air got chillier, Kojiro thought it was the perfect moment for them to get into the onsen. After undressing, Kojiro was the first to get inside, sighing contentedly at how perfectly warm the water was. Kaoru followed him, sitting beside him. Kojiro rested his arm around Kaoru’s waist, drawing him closer. Kaoru still smelled faintly like lavender and the skin that wasn’t underwater glowed because of the remains of the oil.
“How are you feeling?” Kojiro asked, kissing Kaoru’s temple.
Kaoru sighed contently.
“Like I was floating in a cloud,” He said in a calm voice. “I haven't been this relaxed since… I don’t even remember when.”
Kojiro smiled softly at him.
“Then we should come here more frequently.” Kojiro joked.
“I know you’re just joking, but I wish we should come once in a month at least.” Kaoru said, chuckling softly.
“Well, at least I promise I’ll bring you back here before our next anniversary.” Kojiro said, caressing Kaoru’s waist tenderly.
“Mmm, deal.” Kaoru said, turning his face to kiss his husband.
Kojiro kissed him back until the kiss started to get a little bit heated, making them pant, feeling breathless and aching for more.
Once they were dry with their pajamas on, they got into the futon, which luckily was big enough for them both.
Kaoru rested his head on Kojiro’s chest, and Kojiro embraced him with one arm while with his free hand he caressed Kaoru’s hair gently.
“Did you have a good day?” Kojiro asked in a whisper.
Kaoru nodded slowly, kissing him just above his heart.
“The best day I could I’ve ever wished for. Thank you, darling.” Kaoru answered, nuzzling his nose against Kojiro’s neck.
Kojiro turned his head slightly; their noses touching and their lips barely millimeters apart from the other.
“No, thank you for making me the luckiest and most loved man alive one more year. I love you with my whole heart and soul.” Kojiro said against Kaoru’s lips.
Kaoru melted against his husband’s body, cupping his cheek and sealing their lips together in a sweet kiss. When they broke apart, Kaoru got lost in Kojiro’s beautiful garnet gaze. And Kojiro could swear that the moon shining through the window made Kaoru’s golden gaze shine more than the brightest star in the whole universe.
“I love you, I love you, I love you…” Kaoru repeated over and over again between kisses. He wanted to make Kojiro feel this loved today, tomorrow and all the days of the rest of their lives. Just like Kojiro always made him feel.
