Summary
Goten knew he was in love with Trunks for years, long before he had a word for it. For so much of their lives, the phrase “best friend” just seemed too menial to describe their relationship. They shared a soul — a body even at times. As they were beginning to reach the age where everyone around them was getting boyfriends and girlfriends, and the thoughts of sex were bubbling in their minds, Goten almost solely thought about Trunks every time his hand traveled south. They could always predict each other’s thoughts and feelings, except this time. Goten had no idea how Trunks felt towards him in a romantic sense, and he knew he wasn’t going to ask anytime soon. Boldness and confidence were Trunks’s forte, cowardice was Goten’s.
For so long he tried to will his feelings for Trunks away. Trunks wasn’t just his lifelong best friend and confidant, but felt like an extension of himself. He had never known a life without Trunks — he didn’t know anything about himself without Trunks. He wouldn’t, simply couldn’t, fathom losing him.
