Summary
Gaara's held this crush on Naruto close to his heart since high school and he was okay with that. Naruto had Sasuke, anyways, and as long as Naruto was happy then Gaara could be happy. Christmas break for their last year of community college is nearing, though, and when Naruto and Sasuke break up Gaara finds himself crumbling under the pressure of his feelings. He wants to be a good friend but how can he do that when all of these awful feelings were rising to the surface? Can he come clean to Naruto about how he feels or will he finally crack under the pressure of his heart?

"You should though." Sasuke insisted. Christ, drunk Sasuke was far more intolerable than sober Sasuke. Go figure. Gaara frowned a little bit.
"Since when were you invested in my personal life?" It was strange to see Sasuke so invested in anything that wasn’t school or Naruto or those cheesy romance movies he insisted he hated but obviously loved. It was even stranger when he was so invested in something involving Gaara.
"Since I practically stole him from you!" Sasuke insisted, his voice louder this time. His expression was different now, too. He looked...guilty? The entire vibe in the room had shifted, something that seemed to be far too common tonight. Sasuke shifted a little bit and then sighed, running a hand through his own hair.
"I knew you liked him when he and I got together.”

"It isn't ." Sasuke insisted, cutting Gaara off with a frown on his face. He looked away and leaned back, running a hand through his dark hair as he fought to find his words. "I...You and I have never been close like everyone else. I wanted to be friends because...you're a good guy. You're nice and everything. Just with everything between us, with Naruto I just...didn't think we'd be friends. So when we were drinking and having a good time last night I got too comfortable and I ran my mouth. I'm sorry, Gaara. I...I just wanted to be friends."
