The (Not So) Disastrous Life of Saiki.K

Summary:

Just you and Saiki, chilling in his room on a rainy afternoon

Notes:

I used Italics for when Saiki talks to Reader-chan using his telepathy.
Hope you enjoy reading. Bonus points if you can guess what game I was referring to lol

Work Text:

It started raining late into the afternoon. If Saiki wanted to, he could change the weather within a matter of seconds. But he refrained from doing so on this particular afternoon. He knew how much you enjoyed a break from the warmer weather so he decided that it really didn't bother him that much.

The soft sound of rain hitting the tin roof of his house was barely audible over the TV in his room, unable to compete with the sound of your video game filling his bedroom. You kept the noise to a respectable level, allowing Saiki to perch on his bed and indulge in a book while you sat on the floor a few feet from the TV, eyes glued to the screen as you concentrated.

He usually didn't like it when the plot line to a video game or movie was spoiled, due to his curse of being a psychic and able to read minds, but he made an exception with you around. After all, the game you were playing didn't really have that deep of a plot. It was just fight big monster, carve and use materials from said monster to make weapons and armour and then go fight an even bigger monster. Simple yet addictive. You were completely hyper focused on the game, ignoring everything around you as you concentrated on taking down your next foe.

The coffee jelly you had brought earlier as an offering lay on Saiki's desk, still neatly tucked in the paper bag you had brought it in. Saiki had already polished off his treat while yours was awaiting to be eaten. If he had any less self-restraint, he would have eaten your share too. You had declared you would only have your tasty snack once you had beaten a hard boss. And by the Gods above you were giving it your all.

Saiki could hear your thoughts as you continued to battle, mashing buttons on your controller as you muttered something incoherent under your breath. Your shoulders were hunched, teeth gritted as your eyes darted over the TV screen. You were deeply involved with the combat and Saiki was impressed by how much you had studied your foe. You learned its attack patterns, when to dodge, when to attack it and how to avoid powerful moves that could eat your entire health bar if you weren't careful. If only you would apply that much effort to your homework, you'd be truly capable of some amazing feats. Saiki was almost done reading his book when you suddenly let out a triumphant scream of delight.

"I finally did it!" you exclaimed in victory.

You threw your hands up in joy, the controller almost flying out of your hands as you tipped backwards. Your back hit Saiki's bed before you could go any further, tears of joy shimmering in your eyes as you let out a big sigh of relief. The tension left your shoulders like a great weight had suddenly been lifted and you could finally relax.

"I did it, Saiki" you said, a sob almost breaking free as you pointed to the victory on the screen.

His eyes flicked up to the TV as he watched your character running in circles around your fallen prey before you started to collect your loot.

"Congratulations" he said, his voice ringing in your head.

Telepathy was Saiki's preferred form of communication. He rarely ever spoke verbally, if at all. It never really bothered you. Expect for the first time he made the conscious effort to do it. That had freaked you out a little bit.

"Thank you. Lord above, how many attempts was that?" you mused with a tired smile.

"Are you sure you want to know the answer?"

You hummed in thought as you scratched your chin. You shook your head.

"No, I don't think I actually do."

This monster had been plaguing your existence for a whole week. You really didn't want to know how many times you had died to it. Too many, you had decided. Well, now that your fight was finally over you could indulge in your tasty treat. You looked over to Saiki's desk to see your prize perched atop it. You stared at it longingly. You really didn't want to get up to fetch it though. It was so far away and you had a nice comfy spot on the floor. It would be ruined if you got up now. Your eyes flicked over to Saiki before returning to the bag containing the coffee jelly.

"Hey Ku..."

Saiki sighed loudly; eyebrows pinched together with irritation. You didn't have to ask. He knew exactly what you were thinking. He raised his hand, using his telekinetic powers to move the coffee jelly from the desk and into your lap. You clapped your hands in delight as it fell neatly into your lap and you wasted no time digging into the sweet.

"Thank you~" you sang and blew him a kiss.

Saiki rolled his eyes but there was a fond smile on his face as he flicked over a page in his book. Your relationship was a little odd. After all, you were dating a psychic. Though, you realised having a psychic boyfriend was very convenient. He could reach things if you weren't tall enough to reach them. He could make lost items appear in your hands. He could pick you up no matter how much you weighed. Hell, he could even change the weather if he so pleased. But the most entertaining perk was certainly his telepathy. He rarely talked, but when you communicate through telepathy, he could be an absolute chatter box. It certainly kept you entertained during your boring classes.

"That's because you fall asleep during classes" Saiki interjected.

It didn't perturb you when he was able to keep up with your train of thought. You were an open book to him.

"Yeah, because they're boring" you replied.

"The teacher yells at you. It's annoying."

Your lips tilted up into a smile as you continued to play your video game, the bitter and sweet taste of the coffee jelly melting on your tongue.

"And I'm thankful you keep me awake."

He didn't respond, continuing to read his book in silence as you managed your inventory in your game. You had eaten half of your coffee jelly when you suddenly didn't feel hungry anymore. Rather than letting it go to waste, you did the next best thing. You turned your head, casting your gaze at your partner sitting on the bed behind you.

"Hey Saiki, do you want the rest of my coffee jelly?"

You had his full and undivided attention. He locked eyes with you as he started to nod, trying to contain the excited look in his eyes. You smiled. "I'll give it to you in exchange for a kiss."

His eyes immediately narrowed as he shot you a harsh glare. You continued to smile innocently as you waved around the treat so tantalisingly close. How dare you use this against him. He could just snatch it out of your hands, but he risked upsetting you. And it could have potential future repercussions. You may never buy him any coffee jelly again. No, it was a tradition. You would always bring it over whenever you visited. It would be sacrilege if he broke that tradition. And deep down, he didn’t want to upset you. He genuinely loved you and enjoyed your presence in his life. So, with a loud sigh, he gave into you, still giving you the nastiest look he could muster.

"...Fine..."

You happily jumped to your feet and trotted over to him, balancing both the coffee jelly and the game controller in your hands. Oh, so now you'll move. Saiki did his best to bite back the remark and remind himself that it was all for the coffee jelly. You leaned down and placed a small kiss on his cheek, his skin warm under the gentle press of your lips.

"Here you go~"

His book was replaced by the coffee jelly, pushed to the side and forgotten about in favour of his favourite snack. He turned his head and brushed his lips against your cheek, causing you to giggle as locks of pink hair tickled your skin. He didn't look too unhappy with the trade, a smile lighting up his face as he ate the rest of the coffee jelly.

You flopped down on the bed next to him, Saiki making room for you as you curled up beside him and continued to play your game. Saiki continued to happily munch on his jelly as a passing thought floated by his mind. Being in a relationship wasn't such a bad thing.
