Chapter Text
They had been surfing the internet for more information for their analyisis since they finished their school work. They have already pulled all the information they possibly could from the books in the library. It's getting harder to find more information on heroes they already have in their notebook. The internet is a magical place when you know where to look, but even the internet isn't endless.
Upon yet again turning up empty handed on the hunt for more information on the hero Present Mic, they click onto one of their favorite hero forum sites. This one is a less popular, less known one, but normally there is some cool information there. They half wonder if they should make an account on the site and post their analysis.
It may not get looked at much, but that means they won't have to worry as much about the information going in the wrong hands. They still won't go that indepth to protect the heroes they analyze though. Eventually deciding on yes, they start to make an account. They decide to name themself Z3ro, as to represent them not having a quirk. For once, the username was actually available.
Account made, they add some basic information to their profile before starting to type their first post. In this case, they're posting some analysis of Present Mic. They can't find any new information so they might as well share what they have. Plus, it might be fun to see what others think of their analysis.

Present Mic
Quirk - Voice
While on a first look Present Mic's quirk seems self explanatory, that is indeed not the case. We know it's a voice quirk, and many believe it is an emmiter type quirk. However, from further analysis, we know that that couldn't be further from the truth. Upon taking a closer look at some fights that Present Mic has used their quirk, it seems to be almost like Principal Nedzu's quirk in a way. We know the quirk 'High Specs' is always active, and in that manner it seems that the quirk Voice is almost more self explanatory then originaly assumed.
Instead of the quirk being an emmiter, I believe that the quirk Voice is always active, much to the contrary of the common misconception of Present Mic not having a good control of their quirk. That is probrably a front to hide the true ability of their quirk, but it may also be partially true as when they are really excited their voice often gets louder, but is usually quick to be tamed as to not blast anyones eardrums.
If you think about it, if their quirk is indeed their voice, and not an emmiter, then it is quite likely that not only can the quirk work while screaming. That is the only way I have seen them using their quirk but it also may be able to work at a lower pitch. If their quirk does work like predicted in a lower pitch, then that could reduce property damage from one of their normal attacks, along with reducing the damage that 'Voice' can inflict on people's ears.
This brings me to a second theory, Present Mic is not actually immune to the effects of their quirk. A lot of quirks nowadays have mutated past what the users body can naturally handle, leading to small mutations. However, sometimes, especially with stronger quirks, or the first quirk like that in the family, the person is not born immune to the effect of their quirk. We know that their screams can cause others ears to bleed, at least with the way they use their quirk in fights now, but it's possible that the headphones on their costume work as noise canceling as to block out some of the noise from their main attacks and prevent damage to their ears.
Likely more damage if their advocacy for the deaf community and how fluent they are in sign. While that could also be just them being a kind person, that along with different things I have noticed durring videos leads me to believe that they are atleast HoH, likely due to the effect of their quirk when they were a kid, as we know that their quirk manifested at birth.
Onto fighting style, unlike a lot of heroes from their class, they are far less reliant on their quirk, adopting a more quirkless fighting style using a combination of multiple matial arts. For close range that is, long range they are more reliant on their quirk instead of using a support item to maintain a style similarly to their close range style. Less is known about their close range fighting style to the public because in most news videos and other footage they are fighting from a distance, normally working with other heroes.
An analysis of their common patrol times and how much of a media presence they have leads me to believe they are a sunrise hero, a type of hero more limelight then underground, still has the best qualities of both. Sunrise heroes most often work in the early morning. More will be explained on these heroes in a future post.
Onto public appearances, Present Mic is known for their frequent interviews, and while they aren't one of the heroes with the most public appearances, they do enough that they are pretty popular and well known. Normally they end up doing a few public appearances and/or interviews a month, never more then ten unless absolutely necessary. Along with hero work, it is a well known fact they work at U.A as a teacher, likely an English teacher with how often they occasionally talk in english. They also run 'Put Your Hands Up Radio', normally on air during the nighttime session at 5pm - 3am on Fridays, Saturdays and Wensdays. On the station, more often than not, they shed light on many issues that cause a lot of controversy in the community. They also chat with the listeners who call in and play a large variety of music. They commonly play songs of less popular artists, such as the artist Echo, a singer and songwriter who often has their songs played on 'Put Your Hands Up Radio', due to Present Mic's obvious like of their music.
Theories
1) Likely married, likely to someone who doesn't like media, or doesn't want to be known to the public.2) Speaks more launguages than just Japanese and English, they seem like the person to speak like 7 launguages and there is recording of them swearing in german.
3) Knows more about their quirk then they let on, they are always vauge when talking about their quirk leading to me believing they know more then they say they do.
4) Enjoys interacting with people, especially kids, and loves when kids or people are happy. This is kinda proven by their actions but has never been truely confirmed.
5) Very schedule based, or just has a very bad sense of time. However it is more likely the former then the latter. Once Present Mic missed one patrol, and for the next week they were late for everything, like their schedule was off by a couple minutes.
Thats all from me today. Z3ro signing off.
Well, now they wait, see if there are any comments, or anything. Maybe they should head home. After all, it's 3am, and they have been here for hours. Luckily this library is open basically 24/7 so that people with quirks that make them nocturnal can come at night instead of having to come and do research during the day when they normally are asleep.
Before they leave, they make sure to sign into their account on their phone so they can check comments or direct messages when they aren't at the libary. After signing in, they turn off their phone and start the trek to their house. They make sure to take the back roads and alleyways, mostly as to avoid being seen. After all, they are a kid, and if they are caught out they may be brought to the police station, then sent to foster care, or worse, back to their 'family'. They barely notice when they arrive at their 'house' (Well, it doesnt nessesarly count as a how does it? It's just an abandoned building that they fixed up a bit. Atleast now it is mostly livable.)
By the time they get to their bed area, they pass out, not having realized how tired they were until they fell asleep. Little do they know that what they thought was just a small post on a small hero forum, was actually much larger and more popular then they thought.
