Running. Maybe he could still be in time. “SAM!” Tommy’s voice cut through the hot air like a blade. “I am coming!” These stupid walls were taunting him. Running past the cells.
“SAM, HE IS KILLING ME!”
Sam felt like he wasn’t getting closer to the main cell. After what felt like hours, he was finally in the room before the lava tunnel.
Another scream tore through the air, followed by maniacal laughter.
Sam put his hands over his ears. He couldn’t hear this anymore. Where was the goddamn entrance of the guard tunnel.
Sam basically slammed the key card in the wall where he thought the key card reader was. The door opened and Sam rushed through. Now only the lava wall between him and Tommy. He could still safe him. Tommy screamed again. Horrible to hear, but it meant that he was still alive.
Sam drained the lava. He could see Dream, but not Tommy. “Where is Tommy?!” Sam yelled. Dream only laughed. “He is already dead. Has been for a long time now, Warden...”
“No, that can’t be. I heard him scream seconds ago...” Sam stammered. “I am coming over there.”
Sam threw an enderpearl across to the cell. He landed in the cell. It smelt really bad. A sickly sweet smell. A rotten smell…
And that’s when Sam saw Tommy.
He was slumped against the wall, his eyes were open wide and looked cloudy. His skin was loosening. His face looked fallen in.
“HOW LONG HAS HE BEEN DEAD?!” Sam yelled, kneeling down next to Tommy. “Just two or three days. He begged for you when he died.” Dream said with a wicked grin. “It’s sad that the body rots so quickly in this warmth. I could have brought him back you know. But I don’t think you want him to be stuck in this body now.”
Sam stared at Dream. “You are horrible.” Sam hissed. He turned back to Tommy. “Oh Tommy. I am so sorry.
Sam didn’t notice Dream coming up behind him. Suddenly he felt a chain around his neck and pressure on his throat. “Why don’t you join Tommy in the afterlife?” Dream growled and the pressure on Sam’s neck increased. Sam started to choke and struggle for a breath.
Sam shot up in bed. He immediately put his hands up to his neck. The pressure and the chain were gone. He was safe at home. He was safe in his bed. There was still a bit of the foul smell, though. Slowly he stepped out of bed and left his room. In the hall Fran was laying across from a dead zombie. When she noticed him, she started wagging her tail and barked happily.
“Did a zombie sneak in while I was sleeping? And you protected me?” Sam asked as he petted the dog. Fran barked again happily.
“Thank you. You have to show me where this mob snuck in. We have to fix that. But how about we clean this thing up first and then we give you some food.”
Fran jumped up and trotted around Sam’s legs while barking some more.
“Alright, alright. Let’s go.”
