Goretober 2022 day 2

Summary:

Goretober 2022 day 2

Prompt: Infection

Dream is sick in prison, and Sam and Quackity decide what to do with him.

Work Text:

Dream slowly woke up, his eyes immediately being greeted by the lava flowing down.
Was it always this hot in here? He never sweated like this before.
But why did he shiver like he was cold? Make it make sense.
With a lot of struggles, Dream was able to sit up and eventually stand up. He staggered over to the wall of lava. “Sam! Can I get some food? I am hungry.”
“You know your place in the cell. Wait there and we will be over in a second.” Sam’s voice sounded over the intercom system in the cell.
Dream sighed and staggered back to his corner. His head was killing him. Probably because of dehydration or something. Sam barely gave him water and this lava was not helping the situation.

The lava drained and the bridge made its way over to the cell. On the bridge were both Quackity and Sam. Dream knew he should probably try to hide or fight when Quackity was here, but he couldn’t be bothered. He just wasn’t feeling it.
“What the fuck is wrong with him?” Quackity said as he approached Dream.
“I don’t know. Yesterday he was a lot lazier than usual, but I didn’t think much of it.” Sam said.
Quackity grabbed Dream’s chin with force. “He looks sick. Infection probably.”
“Did one of the wounds from last session get infected?”
“If one of them got infected it was probably the one on his side. That was a deep one.” Quackity said. “Sam, hold him still. I will check.”
Sam grabbed Dream’s arms. Dream tried to struggle free, but quickly gave up. He was too tired for this.
Quackity lifted Dream’s shirt to check the wound. He hissed through his teeth. “Yes, that’s definitely infected. It’s very red.” Quackity pushed on the skin around the wound, immediately causing Dream to struggle and try bite Quackity.
“Don’t touch that!” Dream hissed.
“We are trying to help, you monster. Nobody would ever want to help you if you act like this. You should be grateful.” Quackity barked back.

“I can ask Ponk to come. He is a doctor after all.” Sam said. “Yeah, I think that will be smart. For now, just give Dream a little bit of food and water. We don’t want him to die, but also not get enough strength back to overthrow us.” Quackity said.
“Yes. Will you be back tomorrow? Then I can ask Ponk if he can be here around that time as well. I think we will need two people to restrain Dream during the examination.” Sam explained.
“Yeah, yeah. I will be here.” Quackity said.
Dream could only watch as the two left the cell again. He crawled back to his corner and curled himself into a ball. Still shivering from the cold and sweating from the heat at the same time.
