“I hate these places,” Jason grumbled, following slightly closer behind Dick than the big bad Red Hood probably should.
“Caves?” Dick asked.
“No. Tombs. Reminds me too much of mine.”
“Hey, if you want to go back,” Dick began.
“Although I guess mine was more of a grave than a tomb,” Jason continued as if he hadn’t heard Dick.
“Hood.”
“But they’re basically the same thing.”
“Jay.”
“This whole tight underground thing is not my idea of a good time.”
Dick stopped in his tracks. “Jason!”
“What?”
Dick turned around, holding the light low so as not to blind either of them. “Do you want to go back?”
Jason met Dick’s eyes and froze; the lenses of Dick’s mask were flicked up. Dick was serious.
Thank god for the helmet.
Jason lightly punched Dick’s shoulder. “And let you have all the fun?”
Dick stared at him for a moment longer, then sighed, and flicked the lenses back down.
“Then quit moaning and let’s get through this thing,” Dick said, a corner of his mouth curled into a smirk.
“Really living up to your name, Nightwing.”
“Come on, Hood. Where’s your sense of adventure? You only live—”
“‘Once’? Were you about to say once?” Jason asked.
“Nope.”
“Pretty sure you were gonna say—”
“I redact that entire statement.”
“I’ll redact you.”
