Work Text:
"They are thick as thieves, those two."
Charles looked up from his papers, he was trying to grade essays for the past hour, but the words were swimming in front of his eyes.
"Sorry, come again?"
Erik was sitting in front of him, and he was talking for the past couple of minutes, but Charles was completely zoned out.
"Have you been listening to anything I said?" Erik asked with a shake of his head. "Where did you go?"
Charles suppressed a jawn and rubbed his temple. "Sorry, darling. I was just thinking about the mountain of paperwork still needing my attention. Who could have guessed running a school would be such hard work?"
Erik stood up and circled the table, stepping behind Charles's chair to rub his neck and shoulders. "Everyone except you? But you are not alone, Schatz. You have me, Raven, and McCoy as well."
Charles tilted his head back to look up at Erik. "I know, sweetheart, and I'm glad to have you all. What were you saying?"
"That I saw Drake and Allerdyce whispering in the corridor. They tried to look very inconspicuous which obviously made them suspicious. I fear Allerdyce is corrupting the other boy."
"I see it from the other way round. I think Bobby is a good influence on John. Don't be so hard on them, dear. They are kids," Charles smiled closing his eyes as Erik gently rubbed his shoulders.
"The way you always see the best in people... I used to think you were naive, but I learned to love you for it. You always saw the best in me too," Erik thought loudly enough for Charles to hear. "Even when I did not."
Charles sent back the feeling of a caress and a light kiss. "There was light in you, even in those dark days. I saw it in your mind. Now, should we check on our suspicious duo before they bring the house down on us?"
Erik laughed, letting go of Charles's shoulder with a finishing touch. "We better."
