Chapter Text
“Oof!” Four teenage girls landed in the UA staff room several days before the entrance exam. The staff room, which was full of pro heroes who immediately readied themselves for combat. What they were not expecting was for the girls to share panicked looks before three of them transformed into very cute outfits with very deadly weapons as the fourth pulled out two knives.
“Who are you? What do you want, villains?” Midnight yelled
“Well, who are you? One moment we’re just going about our day and the next we’re dumped in here!” Kyoko yelled back. Madoka put a hand on her shoulder.
“Hello! I’m Madoka, and who are you all?” There were understandable looks of suspicion all around when Nedzu stepped forwards.
“Hello! Am I a dog, a mouse, or a bear? What matters is that I’m principal Nedzu!” He noted the minute flinches the girls gave upon seeing him. “Now, you said you don’t know where you are or how you got here? I hope you don’t mind if I call an acquaintance with a lie-detecting quirk. It's not every day people manage to break into UA!”
“What’s a quirk?” Sayaka asked, confused.
“And what’s UA? You spoke as though this is a place of high security.” Homura added.
“Why don’t we wait for my acquaintance to get here.”

“Hello, I’m Detective Tsukauchi, and I am legally required to inform you that my quirk is Lie Detector. Now, why don’t we start with your names.”
“I’m Kaname Madoka! Nice to meet you!”
“Akemi Homura.”
“I’m Miki Sayaka! A pleasure to meet your acquaintance!” She giggled.
“And I’m Sakura Kyoko.”
“All truths. What are your quirks?”
“We don’t know what you mean by that. I’m assuming you aren’t asking us about our personality traits?” Madoka asked.
“None of you know what I’m talking about?” Tsukauchi questioned.
“Nope!” Sayaka chirped.
“Nah.” Kyoko said.
“I can only assume.” Homura stated. Tsukauchi sighed.
“All truth.”
“What are quirks?” Madoka asked.
“Allow me!” Nedzu popped up. The girls tensed slightly, but were curious. “Quirks are superpowers unique to each person! Although I must ask, if you don’t know what a quirk is, how do you explain the outfit changes and sudden appearances of weapons?” Kyoko scoffed.
“You wouldn’t believe us.”
“For curiosities sake?” Nedzu asked.
“Fine. Me, Sayaka, and Homura are magical girls. Madoka isn’t, thank fuck. And whatever image you have in your head about magical girls, it’s probably wrong.”
“Truth.” Tsukauchi stated.
“Then what is it like?” Nedzu questioned.
“Horrible.” Homura said simply, before elaborating. “A magical girl's life is incredibly dangerous. We constantly have to fight witches, which are…evil beings. It’s an incredibly dangerous job where one can die at any time.”
“Then why are you magical girls if it's so horrible?” Nedzu pressed.
“Because in exchange, you get a single wish granted by the bastard himself, Kyubey. Of course, at the time of becoming magical girls we didn’t know how much of a bastard he was.” Kyoko said angrily.
“I have more questions, but you four should rest.” Nedzu said, before leading the girls away.
