Chapter 1: Day 6 + 26

Chapter Text

"Naruto, don't run too far ahead!" Kakashi called out after the young blond boy.

The boy in question glanced back and grinned, "I won't, Kakashi-sensei!"

Team Seven was currently on a C-rank mission which involved having to pick up supplies from a small village on the outskirts of the Land of Fire. So far, the mission had been uneventful, but Kakashi couldn't help but be on edge. From prior experience, he knew that he and his team had the shittiest luck. Sasuke had looked back at the jonin and Kakashi knew the raven was also thinking the same thing. Sakura on the other hand didn't seem worried about the mission, but seemed more worried Naruto was going to get all three of them in trouble. If Kakashi based anything on her yelling at the blond every couple of minutes. The four of them continued walking for a little while with Naruto leading the way and Kakashi bringing up the back.

"Kakashi-sensei!"

The tiny caravan had stopped dead when the sound of metal clashing happened. The genin looked back and saw a ninja standing over Kakashi. By instinct alone, the jonin had knelt to the ground and stopped the rogue ninja's blade with a kunai. By the rogue shinobi's face, he didn't expect Kakashi to be a difficult target.

Kakashi didn't look at the kids, but for the second time, he told them to run. This time, all three of them listened. Sakura grabbed Naruto's arm and ran. Sasuke hesitated a second before taking off after them. With the knowledge his students were safe, Kakashi leapt into action against the missing nin.He had barely landed his first punch when he heard Sakura's scream. The jonin glanced in their direction and that was enough for his opponent to gain the Upper hand. Kakashi found himself on his back with the ninja sitting on his stomach, trapping his arms against his sides.

The rogue leaned into Kakashi's face, "Let's see what we have here!"

Fingers grabbed Kakashi's hitai-ate and mask. The silver-haired man tried to shake his head but the hands were too strong. His hitai-ate was completely removed but Kakashi kept both eyes shut. The missing nin tutted and started pulling open Kakashi's left eye. The jonin was unable to fight it and gave in.

The ninja laughed in triumph. He called out And two other shinobi marked as rogue walked out of the trees, carrying the genin. Sasake and Sakura were gagged and restrained but conscious. Naruto had the same treatment but was slumped bonelessly across an uncaring shoulder.

The one holding Naruto glanced at Kakashi and then at the man on top of him, "Is that him, boss?"

The apparent leader grinned, "Sure is. This is Kakashi of the Sharingan"

Kakashi faintly heard Sasuke growl and wished he had away to comfort him. Soon, Kakashi's hitai-ate served at his blind fold and he felt the familiar pull of the teleportation jutsu. He and all the kids stayed silent. Kakashi silently praised how well they were doing in training. When the dizzy feeling subsided, Kakashi's hitai-ate came off, allowing him to check in with his kids. They were all in the same condition and Kakashi thanked whatever gods he could. All the genin stayed gagged as their captors led them down a hallway.

They reached a pair of doors across from each other, and Kakashi tensed. He made sure to look calm as he knew what was coming and hoped he could keep Sasuke calm as well. The ones holding his gemin pushed them into the room unceremoniously while the care holding the jonin pulled him into the other room. Kakashi saw the exact moment Sosuke knew what was happening. The raven's eyes grew wide, flitting from terror to fury. The jonin made eye contact and shook his head, glancing at a frozen Sakura. Sasuke's dark eyes softened and the door slammed shut.

They were officially separated in enemy hands.

The door slammed shut in Sakura and Sasuke's faces. Both genin stared at the door before the pinkette had enough sense to attempt to break her restraints with chakra. It took a few tries, but she eventually figured it out and was free, and next to Sasuke, freeing him.

“They took him,” he whispered.

Sakura nodded, not really sure what to do. Instead she knelt down to the blond, undoing his restraints as well. Naruto was still unconscious, so Sakura left him to drag Sasuke into the impromptu puppy pile she planned on making. The raven let himself be led and Sakura couldn’t help the stab of worry. Once the two teenagers made their way over, Sasuke laid down next to Naruto and immediately wrapped the unconscious boy in a hug.

Sakura sat next to them, causing Sasuke to cast a judging look at her, “I think.” she hesitated, “It would be better to sleep in shifts.”

The raven nodded and went back to treating Naruto like his own personal stuffed animal. The pinkette wanted to envy her two teammates, but the thought quickly fled when screams sounded throughout the room. She looked around in a panic, looking to see if Sasuke or Naruto were the source. The screams came again. In horror, she slowly looked at the closed door. Right before she could put the idea together herself, Sasuke beat her to it.

“That was Kakashi, wasn’t it?”

The two teens flinched as Kakashi screamed again. Sakura’s mind went blank. She didn’t know what to do in this situation. She didn’t know how to calm down. She didn’t even realize she had frozen until Sasuke’s shaking hand pulled her into the cuddle pile. The raven’s own wide eyes were caught between past and present as he stared at her. Sakura grabbed his hand. She needed the reassurance that she wasn’t alone right now. The two genin stayed silent, forced to hear their sensei’s cries through the walls. Sakura felt tears well up, but she couldn’t cry. Not just yet.
