Why That Pose Works So Well...

Summary:

Just some thoughts from Captain Kirk and Spock.

Notes:

If my limited knowledge of stardates worked out, this should be somewhere set in between “Amok Time” and “Who Mourns for Adonais?”.

(Wrote this in the car while going to Walgreens.)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

"Captain's Log, stardate 3407.3,

Ever since our fight and my near-death experience on Vulcan, I have been noticing strange things about Spock. Sometimes I’ll accidentally startle him or say something dumb and he flushes. His face and ears get all green. I’ll catch myself staring at him, just observing whatever it is that he’s doing. He’ll do the same, though not as often as me. Spock will often stand with his hands behind his back and his shoulders straight. He looks scarier posed like that, almost as if he’s looking down at you. Though, he probably does not mean that reaction. Another thing that I notice because of this is how strong my first officer is. I know he’s strong since he’s a Vulcan, but posed like that? I notice it more. I feel like that fight made our friendship closer. I have realized that I have become closer to him, almost as if I’m being pulled toward him. I never realized this before the fight.”

He shut off the captain’s log, his private log of course. He doesn’t want anyone else to hear his blabbering.

He went to turn off the light and get in bed. He pulled the dense covers over himself and sighed at the warmness. It's too cold without the blanket, yet, it's too warm with the blanket. He tried to settle in for the night, but he kept twisting and turning throughout. He kept trying to doze off, but before he did an image or a thought about Spock would show up. Essentially, he kept him up all night, unable to go to sleep because of him.

His alarm buzzed, waking him up from the lucky one hour of sleep he got. Now, he realized that he had to face Spock all day knowing that he admires him as more than a friend.

Spock had the same issue, though. He, too, had a rough night. He has been having rough nights. After their fight, his guilt and fear tore him down, believing that he killed his friend. Learning that Jim is alive made him realize a lot. He had no interest in T'Pring and was only there for expectations. He cared about Jim and McCoy more than he thought he did. Especially when he was presented to his betrothed.

After that day on Vulcan, he felt something. A small connection was buzzing between them. It felt like a bond. He then really knew how he felt.

T’hy’la.

Notes:

This was short and sweet and a little trash, but that's all right.
