"Father"

Summary:

It was never easy for him to talk about his problems, his worries. And, to be honest he liked it that way. No matter how open he seemed, Leo was a secretive person. And he enjoyed that, he enjoyed having the privacy to think about everything on his own. To allow all the hateful and intrusive thoughts flow through until there were no more and he could be free to exist in peace for a few more hours, and his brothers knew that.

They knew him.

Apparently that wasn't true.

Notes:

Hekhejfv this is kind of a vent as well lmao

Work Text:

As carefree a person Leo seemed to be, trust didn't come easily to him. Especially after all he's been through.

So when Mikey decided that Draxum was apart of his family, it was hard.

It felt like betrayal.

At first everyone was wary of draxum. After the Albertoland incident Raph seemed to trust Draxum a bit more though. He wasn't treating him like family but... something was different. He wasn't sure what happened but Raph wasn't wary of him the way Purple and he was anymore.

One day he walked in to see Raph and Draxum talking about something, he wasn't sure what theyw ere talking about, but they were enjoying themselves in a calm relaxed way he'd never seen his older brother like before. This wasn't right.

He felt the betrayal this time.

(He was there, he saw him try and kill me. He saw him drop me down that skyscraper and here he is talking with him like family. Like he didn't threaten us all, like he didn't plan to use us as his soldiers to destroy humanity. Like he didn't ruin pop's life.)

He stayed silent.

Next was Don.

Him and Donnie never talked much but they always seemed to know what the other was thinking and feeling. A connection that somehow let each one know just how far was too far, a connection that kept them from hurting each other and he was grateful for that.

So when he saw Donnie excitedly explaining the intricacies of science to the sheep yokai, happily recieving praise and compliments on his achievements, he felt fire and a flood come out all at once. He stayed silent yet betrayal clawed at his chest as if tearing him apart.

How could they?

How could they just forgive that thing? Act civil and simply accept him as one of their own? He tried to kill him. He tried to kill Raph.

He tried to kill his baby brothers.

Draxum wasn't worth it yet they were all so caring towards him and for what? Why should they forgive him? Why should he forgive him?

Even his father, who's life was ruined by this disgusting creature was being kind to him.

He watched as Splinter poured him a cup of tea, the sound of the hot water falling into the cup made Leo grind his teeth. Large angry tears formed behind his eyes, yet they never fell. A smile adorned his face as he walked into the room.

He made sure to stare at the unwelcome yokai.

He hoped he'd leave them all forever to live in peace.

Three days later Mikey gave him a scolding about how rude he was, how without draxum none of them would exist, and how hurt he made their father feel.

Anger gripped at his sides, yet he smiled and stayed silent. Nodding along and agreeing to whatever loving conditions his lively brother gave him, he needed to keep a smile on that face.

Father... he guessed that would be what Draxum was to him, to his brothers.

If Draxum was his father however, he'd wished the Alchemist Warrior had never created him.

He'd rather die than claim that monster as family.

The feeling of air rushing past his skin as he falls to his death haunts him, and he wishes Draxum were dead.

He doesn't understand what everyone sees in him, what's worth saving in him. He doesn't care if that thing has been through terrors no living being should have to see, he threatened his brothers lives, he did not care for any of them.

If Draxum turned and killed them all someday he wouldn't be surprised.

Is wasn't a fear really, more of a hunch.

It didn't matter whether he was right or wrong, rather moreso whether or not he could save his brothers if it became a reality. That's that really mattered in the end anyways.

But then he walks into the living room and he sees them all enjoying themselves with that monster. He sees them laughing and talking and he can't help but wonder if he's in the wrong for feeling all of this. That maybe he's being selfish for not forgiving the Warrior. That maybe they're all more happy with him in the family now, that if he forced that monster away he'd be the monster.

But then Draxum raises his hand and Leo can't help but flinch.

His hands begin to shake and he can feel the air rushing past his skin again as he falls down hundreds of feet. He can hear that proud voice spitting out threats that were not to be taken lightly. He can feel his chest pound and a dull ache begins to form once again, full of betrayal and anger and large tears threaten to show. Yet despite it all they never fall, they refuse to fall. He thought perhaps that if he cried it all out everything could just go away. All the doubts and fears, but he couldn't seem to force the stupid tears out.

An emptiness ran around inside of him. Crushing the inside of his chest, sometimes he felt he couldn't breathe.

He couldn't understand how Mikey could love that monster.

Turns out it didn't matter in the end. Whatever he felt or thought, no one cared actually. They all cared more as to whether or not he was right or wrong.

He guessed they were right.

As long as he could keep his family smiling that monster could stay. But if he hurt them, any of them, in any way shape or form Leo would not hesitate to kill.

He thinks he could kill to keep them safe.
