Work Text:

Officer Santos doesn’t really like manning the concierge, but she does it anyway. The most interesting people come into the station sometimes, so she just tries to hold her tongue and do her job.

She’s about to decide that today is a sarcastically interesting day until a tall, burly, clean-shaved handsome man in sunglasses enters the station with a garment bag. Possibly six two in height, two hundred and ten pounds, brown leather jacket that would probably rip at the seams if he moved his arms, dark jeans, dark shoes, white shirt, sharp jaw, broad shoulders, dark hair with a white tuft combed back with his bangs.

He takes off the sunglasses, revealing bright teal eyes. She almost forgets what she’s supposed to say.

“Hey,” he says.

“Uh, hey. How may I help you?” she says, voice almost cracking by the end. Way to go being starstruck by a handsome civilian.

“I’m looking for Detective Grayson?” he hangs the sunglasses on the hem of the shirt’s neck hole.

“Right, and full name please?”

“Jason Peter Todd,”

“Jason Peter Todd,” she repeats absently as she logs that into the computer. “What for?”

He holds up the garment bag. “Got something for him and I’m gonna drag him out to lunch,”

“Alrighty. Please have seat in the waiting bench. I’ll go get him for you,” goes to fetch the detective currently on lunch break.

She sees him feet up on his desk playing on his phone while speaking with another detective and a few officers. As she approaches, one of the detectives greets her.

“What’s up Santos?”

“Hey,” she greets back, “Detective Grayson, there’s someone for you out front,”

Det. Grayson, handsome and cheery as ever, asks, “Did they say who?”

“Jason Peter Todd,”

Hearing the name seems to brighten him up even further. “Yay!” he puts his feet down, pockets his phone, badge, keys, and wallet, and follows Santos out to the front.

Jason Peter Todd seems to have forgone sitting at the waiting bench, since he’s standing right where Santos left him.

“Hey!” says Det. Grayson excitedly.

The man hands over the bag to the detective. “Alfred said you needed these,”

“I did, since I don’t have the budget to get another suit,” Det. Grayson undoes the zipper and checks its contents. “Besides I liked the shirt we bought in Milan,”

Milan?? Italy?? Santos thinks as she gets a peek at a black jacket, pants, and a white shirt in the garment bag. Huh. Det. Grayson must have somewhere important to go to.

“Shut up,” the taller man rolls his eyes. “Like hell you don’t have the budget,”

Santos watches with amusement as they bicker. They seem to be at ease with one another.

“Yep, that’s the one! Thanks for bringing it over. Besides, why buy a new one when there’s a perfectly pressed one at home? And you could’ve just couriered it over, you know,”

“If one crinkle gets on that suit, you know Alfred will strangle the one responsible. And he and the old man wanted me to check on you. So your suit budget we can splurge on some food,”

“Sounds good. You drive, though. I’m gonna leave my cruiser here,” he hands Santos the keys to his cruiser.

“Sure thing,” Jason nods, then turns to Santos. “Thanks officer,”

“You’re welcome! You seem to know each other well,”

“Oh! Santos!” Det. Grayson is almost ecstatic she noticed. “How rude of me. This is my baby brother, Jason! Isn’t he just cute! So tall, too!”

“Sup,” Jason waves.

The people manning the front desk stare at them.

Baby…brother? Cute…?

This…six foot two, two hundred and ten pounds of muscle… with a jaw that could cut steel… could probably bench press a car… is…the cute baby brother??

“Nice to meet you,” says the cute baby brother.

Santos is about to have a stroke just thinking about this massive hulking man as a cute baby brother. “Nice to meet you too?” she might regret that unsure tone later. She doesn’t know about cute, but he is gorgeous though.

Jason turns to Det. Grayson. “I want tacos,”

“Tacos it is!” agrees Det. Grayson. “I swear, Santos, baby brothers are so spoiled. Let’s go, Jay,” he claps his brother’s back a few times and leads him out of the station.

Santos and the three other officers manning the concierge look at each other, faces all reading varying degrees of ‘what the fuck?’ and another one who mouths ‘he’s hot!!’

She shakes her head. Six foot two, two hundred and ten pound baby brother. That’s hilarious.
