Work Text:
Izuku hissed as he applied rubbing alcohol to the wound on his side, wincing as it stung like a bitch .
He really should've been more careful. He had gotten overconfident in that fight and had let a villain sneak up behind him and get a hit on him.
Luckily for Izuku it wasn't a deep wound. But it was still long and on his waist so it hurt like a bitch .
He’s also like- 99% sure that if he hadn't slipped out of the alleyway the moment he finished taking down the villain who stabbed him Eraserhead would've most definitely noticed that he was injured and dragged Izuku to the nearest hospital.
Which, no thank you. He’s a vigilante for a reason, to not get caught and if he went to the hospital he not only be turned away but his identity would also be revealed.
And yes Izuku knows that he’s also a hero in training at UA and since he’s received One for All from All Might he doesn't really have a reason to continue being a vigilante other than the fact that he enjoys it.
But that is really all to say that Izuku really couldn't risk getting caught now. Especially since he was probably Eraserheads least favorite student at the moment.
It wasn't his fault he can control his quirk. It’s also not his fault that Eraserhead never looks at his student's files, if he did he would've seen that Izuku was quirkless up until the entrance exam.
But it's fine, Izuku knew how to bandage his wounds. Painful as it may be, he knows how to bandage his own wounds. How to let them heal over the next few days.
Now that's not to say that Izuku was any good at bandaging himself. Others? He was a god at first aid but he couldn't do it on himself for the life of him, at least not well.
But he could still do the basics, disinfecting and wrapping the shallow wound loosely, making sure the blood had formed a clot so he wouldn't bleed to death in his sleep.
That really would not be preferable so Izuku had double and triple-checked that he wasn't bleeding before passing out in his bed. Falling into a thankfully dreamless sleep.

Izukus's side hurt like a
bitch
when he woke up the following morning.
He hit the off button of his alarm and slowly forced himself to sit up. He still had over an hour before he needed to get to UA for classes, hopefully, that would be enough time to recheck his bandages and disinfect the wound on his side.
Izuku groaned, pressing the palm of his hands into his eyes. The pressure waking him up ever so slightly but it also did cause him to see stars when he pulled his hands away.
You win some you lose some.
Izuku sighed, before swinging his legs out of bed. Grimacing slightly at the sharp pain that shoots through his body.
Hopefully, with a handful of pain medicine and shit, he would be able to get through the day without revealing how much pain he was in.
Aizawa-Sensei would not be pleased if he knew that Izuku came to class injured. And while Izuku was willing to deal with an annoyed Eraserhead on a nightly basis, his education was in the hands of this hero and he would really prefer to avoid getting expelled if possible.
Not that it seemed likely he would. After the USJ it seemed like the man had gotten too attached to all of them to expel anyone. But that didnt mean Izuku was willing to push him too much.
So, Izuku gritted his teeth and limped his way toward the bathroom. Knowing all too well that his mom had already left for work. She always left exceptionally early to avoid Izuku, no matter
what excuse she made up he knew her real reasons.
Izuku managed to disinfect the wound again, thankfully it didnt look infected but it was still deep enough that he knew he needed to be careful with it. After that he rewrapped it, this time slightly tighter than the night before. It was still sloppy but it would have to do.
Izuku shook himself off, grabbed a bottle of pain medication from the drawer, and took a few of the pills. Swallowing them with some water and shoving the rest of the bottle in his bag. Hopefully, he wouldn't need them later but Izuku knew better than to assume that he wouldn't.
After that, Izuku quickly got dressed and ran out the door. He was going to miss his train if he didnt hurry up.

Izuku barely managed to get to school on time, slipping into his classroom and his seat just moments before the bell rang.
Aizawa entered in directly behind Izuku, giving him an odd look that was asking him why Izuku was almost late. Not that Izuku answered it, simply ignoring his teacher, and quickly made his way toward his seat.
He was also completely focused on keeping his face neutral, to not show any sign of how every movement was agonizing, how it pulled and strained the wound on his side.
Aizawa gave Izuku another assessing look before start class.

Izuku had forgotten that they had hero training today.
His schedule along with his classmates was constantly changing, but they never had less than 3 days that included hero training in a week. It had simply slipped his mind that he would be having it 4 times that week and today was one of those days.
Izuku had fought and trained while injured before. How else was he supposed to become a good hero if he didnt? He had to learn how to grit his teeth and ignore the pain and continue to fight, continue to go through the motions.
If he didnt how would he ever become a good hero? He had to build up some kind of tolerance to this kind of thing? He had to learn how to fight wounded or else he would be dead the second he entered a villain attack.
So, Izuku grit his teeth and made his way to the locker room grabs his hero costume on his way out and quickly hid in one of the stalls to change.
Izuku knew his classmates well enough that if they spotted the ( likely blood-stained ) bandages they would ask questions.
But since Izuku was the first one in the locker room, he was also the first one out. Even having taken the extra time to rearrange his bandages to make it so they wouldn't be visible underneath his skintight suit.
It had taken a lot of rearranging and tightening but it did the job.
Even so, by the time Izuku made it onto the field he felt slightly short of breath. But as long as he didnt get too lightheaded and faint he should be completely fine.
Aizawa-Sensei even said it himself! Today would be a fairly easy day! Only light sparring to make sure they weren't falling behind on their hand-to-hand combat.
As long as Izuku made sure to avoid his side getting hit he would be fine.
The rest of his class filed onto the field slowly but surely, Mineta scurrying on just seconds before Aizawa-Sensei appeared. Looking at least a bit satisfied that they were all there on time. If not sending Mineta a warning look for cutting it so close.
Izuku didnt notice the assessing look that Aizawa sent in Izuku’s direction. Having been pulled into a light conversation with Uraraka and Iida.
Aizawa-Sensei quickly pulled everyone back to attention when he cleared his voice, dropping a large bag in front of his feet.
“Instead of doing quirkless sparring today, Nedzu requested we begin our weapons unit.” He stated blandly, opening the bag and pulling out a dull knife. “We’re going to start with dull fake weapons so you can't hurt yourself or your classmates on accident. But these can cut fabric so still be careful.”
With that, he instructed Izuku and the rest of class A to grab a knife out of the bag. And once they all gathered their weapon of choice Aizawa-Sensei began instructing them on how told hold the weapon.
Izuku had been taught this years ago by Eraserhead when he first started his vigilante career. And while he didnt really need to be taught how to use a knife again it felt vaguely reminiscent of that time.
It wasn't a happy time for Izuku, oh god no. But it was still a good memory, it was one of his first interactions with Eraserhead as a hero in general and so he would forever treasure it in his memory.
Izuku was too lost in his thoughts that instead of remembering to downplay his skill so Aizawa-Sensei wouldn't get suspicious of why Izuku knew how to wield a knife so skillfully. Instead, he followed the directions given by the hero unconsciously, completing them with skillful perfection.
But Izuku hadn't noticed until Aizawa-Sensei called him out. Asking Izuku to come to the front to ‘demonstrate’.
Obviously, Izuku knew what that meant. He had learned far too quickly that if he was being asked to ‘demonstrate’ it was basically a death sentence, he had learned that when Eraserhead had offered to demonstrate how to properly wield a knife to Izuku when he was first starting out and ended up lunging at Izuku with it. He had never felt true terror until that moment. It was terrifying.
Of course, that meant Izuku was a bit more prepared this time when he made his way to the front, one moment his teacher was helping Izuku ‘correct’ his grip on the knife ( Izuku had purposefully made sure it was incorrect as he walked up) and the next he was being lunged at.
Even if Izuku was prepared he still had a mini heart attack, it was scary getting lunged at by his normally terrifying teacher ok?
Izuku’s instincts kicked in the next moment though, allowing him to dodge the attack, mostly at least. Eraser's knife caught on Izuku’s hero costume and sliced open the side particularly. Which… annoying because he had just replaced it. But not a tragedy.
Izuku quickly spun out of the way of Eraser’s next attack. Consciously choosing not to attack him back other than half asses lunges in the hero's direction, and thus began their game of cat and mouse.
It only lasted a few minutes until Aizawa managed to get Izuku in the corner.
No one said anything, his class remaining completely and utterly silent as they waited for Aizawa-Sensei to speak.
But he didnt gets the chance to when Uraraka broke the silence. “Uh- Deku are you ok? It looks like you’re bleeding!” She exclaims, drawing everyone’s attention to the rip in his hero costume.
It also drew Izuku’s attention to the throbbing in his side. One that he honestly hadn't noticed until that moment, apparently the knives were still sharp enough to reopen wounds…
Aizawa-Sensei immediately took Izuku’s arm, dragging him off somewhere. Startling Izuku and the others.
“Sensei?!” Izuku exclaims, confusion clear in his voice. “Uh, where are you taking me? I’m not in trouble am I?”
Aizawa sighs in response. “You’re bleeding and obviously injured. And judging from the bandages it was there beforehand so I’m taking you to Recovery Girl.” he says to Izuku and then the rest of the class. “No more knifework for today, I’ll send All Might down, and once he’s here start your quirkless sparring.”
And with that Izuku was promptly dragged out of the room, an apologetic look on his face as he continued to protest going to Recovery Girl. That the knife must’ve just scratched him and that he would be fine .
Aizawa obviously ignored him and continued to drag Izuku to the nurse's office. Where he was promptly scolded about how horribly he had wrapped his wound and interrogated about how exactly he had gotten it.
Izuku just smiled and apologized. Not giving them an explanation in the slightest.
They didnt need to know. He would simply have to be more careful in the future to not let Aizawa spot his injuries. He wasn't about to ruin the surprise by him getting stabbed.
