Kusuo really, genuinely believes he should be able to catch a break once in a while. Like. Come on.
The cats only get louder.

"Hey, Saiki!" That's the sound of Kuboyasu, which is never a good sign because it means he's about to be involved in some friendship bonding activity. It is exactly as bad as it sounds.
Looking for an escape, Kusuo tries to turn invisible and sneak past the ex-delinquent, but he senses the others close by. They've basically cornered him in the bathroom, which is just his luck. Sighing deeply, Kusuo steps out - he'd rather have a conversation in a place that doesn't smell like ancient decay.
"Ah, there you are!" Kuboyasu grins. "Kaido and I discovered this really cool animal shelter a little ways from here so we're going to go check it out, do you want to come?"
'And third wheel the whole time?' No thank you, that is not Kusuo's idea of a fun time.
Kuboyasu flushes. "You're not - I mean - it's not a d-date, you won't be third wheeling!"
Kusuo just stares at him.
"...fine okay I was hoping to take him on a date there but then maybe he won't enjoy it so can you come along just in case? Please?" Kuboyasu stares at Kusuo, eyes wide with hope.
'No.' Kusuo turns around to leave.
"I'll buy you coffee jelly!"
Oh wow, Kuboyasu is really desperate because the guy cannot afford a coffee jelly. But still, Kusuo cannot always be bought out with coffee jelly - he has standards and third wheeling useless gay people is well below the standard.

He somehow ends up on the goddamn date.
'Why am I here,' Kusuo despairs.
"Mostly for the coffee jelly, but also your mom wanted some cat pics," Kuboyasu shrugs.
His mom is a traitor, Kusuo thinks, and then unthinks it. He loves his mom, she's great.
"Hey guys! Were you waiting long?" An annoying voice pipes up behind them. Oh great. The second half of the date is here.
Kuboyasu, predictably, blushes. It's horrifyingly embarrassing to watch. "H-hi Kaido! We weren't here long, we just got here don't worry!" Apparently the fact that they've been standing here for the last ten minutes is 'not long'. Love really makes people blind.
Kaido blushes too. "Oh, good, I'm glad! So, uh -" he glances at Kusuo. "Saiki, you like pets too, huh?"
'Don't worry, I'm not going to stick around for too long.'
Kaido doesn't actually sigh in relief, but it's a near thing. "Ah, okay!"
This is literally the worst way to spend a day, in Kusuo's opinion.

The cats are so loud.
Kusuo's eye twitches. Why are the cats so loud.
To literally no one's surprise, Kaido and Kuboyasu had skipped off into a corner and started giggling and blushing, leaving Kusuo alone with the goddamn cats. Can he not have one day where he just - chills out. He goes home and plays a video game maybe, has some coffee jelly and then goes to bed.
A cat blinks up at Kusuo and then swats him.
