Lupin thought he was always the over prepared one, every part of his outfit was used for storage. No matter what went wrong, Lupin would always be able to get everyone out of a pinch. Even after all the years they’ve worked together, Lupin can still surprise them with where he’s hiding things.

Lupin dreams too big, too early, and swan dives like Icarus off a too high castle wall and hits the water hard. It ensnares him, mingles with red, and he knows he isn’t going to make it. Knows that he’s crawling to death’s door as he scrambles up the muddy bank with spikes in his back and pins and needles itching along his fingers. He’s miscalculated and now he’s going to pay the price.
Until remarkably he doesn’t.
Or, Arsène Lupin the Third doesn’t stay dead and that’s incredibly useful until it’s not
