Chapter Text
Destiny always had a thing for elegant parties. Being born into a socialite family with money and privilege, she had been exposed to the highest of high society from a young age. She could recall being taken to her first ball when she was but a child and dancing until dawn.
Of course, those times were long gone now.
Pouring over a book about the interactions between elementary particles, she felt the gentle touch of a hand on her shoulder.
"You've been cooped up in here for hours, love," Steven remarked. "Don't you want to get out for a while?"
She looked up from her book with tired eyes. "Are you going somewhere?"
"I was invited to Galar by Leon for a charity event," he answered. "All the most important people will be in attendance."
"Oh, I'm not that important," Destiny insisted, slowly re-reading a sentence until the letters turned into a jumble of incomprehensible shapes in her mind. Frustrated, she slammed the hardcover shut.
She suddenly felt a pair of arms slip around her waist, drawing her close. The familiar scent of Steven's cologne filled her nostrils as he pressed his lips to her forehead. "You're important to me."
