All For You

Summary:

Suptober - Day Fourteen

Notes:

Let's take a break from all the pranking and spooking (or at least the plotting of said things) and go back to the OG good stuff. Fluffy Destiel! What could be better!?

Work Text:

“Just a little farther.” Dean said, holding a blindfolded Cas’ hand as he led him through the dark to a surprise destination.

“I still do not understand the need for my eyes to be covered, Dean. I told you I would close them.” Cas pouted as he stumbled (again) over his own feet. “You should be grateful I love you, I could smite you for this unnecessary and cruel treatment.

“Oh stop being a baby. It’ll be worth it in about five seconds.” Cas felt sand beneath his sandals and a cool breeze blow past him. “And three… two… one…” Dean pulled the blind fold off and Cas opened his eyes to a small private beach where two chairs were waiting by the water. Between them was a fully set candle lit table. “See. Dinner and a view.” Dean beamed proudly at his surprise, especially at how Cas’ eyes got misty as he took in the sight. “And look. Our favorite foods for dinner.” Dean lifted the covers off their plates, and Cas burst into laughter at the slices of cherry pie paired with pb&j’s.

“What a perfect combination.” He said, grabbing his sandwich as he sat down. “Everything is perfect, Dean.”

“All for you, Angel.” Dean smiled and lifted Cas’ hand to his lips, kissing over each knuckle. “So you really like it?”

“I love it, Dean. Thank you.” Cas took a bite and closed his eyes, relishing in taste; one – if not the only – thing he asked Jack to return to him when he saved him from the empty, and gave him the opportunity to have a normal life with Dean.

The two sat quietly for a moment, while they ate their small meal and listened to the waves crashing on the shore. “You are happy, right Cas?” Dean asked, finally breaking the silence.

“Of course I am. Dean, why would you think otherwise?”

Dean stared at the empty plate in his lap, pushing crumbs of bread and pie crust around. “Well… I don’t know. I guess I just worry if you ever regret leaving heaven. Losing your siblings – your family – for… us.” The for me went unsaid, but Cas knew what Dean truly meant.

“Dean, this is my family. Jack is my son, Sam is my brother, you… You are my world, you… frustratingly amazing man. I miss my siblings, yes. But they made their choices, and chose their sides, as I chose mine. And my choice will always be you. Forever.”

“Well – uh – I…” Dean stuttered, trying to find the words to reply to that ; and suddenly regretted going with Claire’s suggestion to write their own vows (because in no way could he top anything Cas was going to say). Cas smiled at Dean, and put his plate back on the table, before standing and walking to Dean’s chair, nudging him to make room and somehow fanegaling himself into the small amount of space. “I love you.” Dean said, finding no other worthy words.

“And I love you, Dean.”

That was how Jack found them, at almost midnight, when they never returned back to the room. Sound asleep and wrapped in each other's arms, looking more peaceful than he had ever seen them before. He smiled at his fathers and snapped his fingers, putting them back in their beds and cleaning up from their date.
