Work Text:
Since the beginning of their official relationship, Noelle has been nothing but nervous and lovestruck. She couldn't believe she indeed asked out the most gorgeous violent purple girl ever AND she agreed! Their relationship has barely changed except they now held hands and talked more.
There are a lot of things Noelle can do, but balancing out thoughts about her now official girlfriend and school is not one of them. Susie basically occupied Noelle's brain and didn't plan on stopping.
That's how Noelle got B- in her math test and was grounded by her mom for a week.
That was really sad, especially considering that the first date that they planned and talked about out loud was exactly on that week!
Noelle closed the door of her room and sighed. She didn't have a clue what to do! Then she opened her pink laptop she had since middle school and texted to her closest friends who often helped her out in different situations.
Why wouldn't they this time?
holidaygirl1225: Hello, guys
x.o_krismurderer_o.x: what's up
holidaygirl1225: I have a problem XP
thesmartgenius: Which exactly, dear Noelle? As a fellow gamer and a dedicated friend I assure you can rely on me.
holidaygirl1225: Well... Uhhh...
x.o_krismurderer_o.x: is that bout u n susie
Noelle blushed and turned away from the screen. Is it that obvious?
holidaygirl1225: Omg, Kris, how did you know?! :0
x.o_krismurderer_o.x: it's easy ngl
thesmartgenius: Are you going to tell about the lesbian activities you and Susan are doing? What is worrying you so much you decided to interrupt my Minecrap speedrun?
holidaygirl1225: Actually Susie and I wanted to have a date this evening but my mom grounded me. Because of my B- :(
thesmartgenius: Oh, poor Noelle! The weight of handling school and relationship must be so heavy!
holidaygirl1225: Well, I wouldn't say so, but thank you for worrying! Can you help me somehow?? XD
x.o_krismurderer_o.x: run away
holidaygirl1225: WHAT????
x.o_krismurderer_o.x: not forever or smth
x.o_krismurderer_o.x: like
x.o_krismurderer_o.x: for a date
holidaygirl1225: XD??????
thesmartgenius: I'm not pleased to admit it, but Kris's option might be the only one working in such situation.
Noelle's eyes widened. She's never done such a thing before as she'd been told it's really irresponsible and a bad girl behavior.
Noelle is a good girl who listens to her mom and can't tell her no.
holidaygirl1225: I can't! What will mom think? :(
x.o_krismurderer_o.x: she won't if u don't tell her
thesmartgenius: Noelle, my friend, I understand that it might be hard for you as you're a well-behaved doe. But if you want to meet Susan and do lesbian activities together, you will have to make sacrifices.
holidaygirl1225: What if I get caught???
x.o_krismurderer_o.x: uh
x.o_krismurderer_o.x: it's saturday
x.o_krismurderer_o.x: i can help u n susie
thesmartgenius: Uh, HOW can you, with youre third place, help my dearest friend Noelle? She totally needs MY genius help instead.
x.o_krismurderer_o.x: your*
thesmartgenius: SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!
Before the fight could happen, Noelle interrupted both of her pals.
holidaygirl1225: GUYS. YOU BOTH CAN GO.
holidaygirl1225: If you want to, of course XD
The deal was sealed. According to the plan, Kris had to help Noelle to get out of her room, get her to Susie by the way Mayor Holiday couldn't see. Berdly was here to bring walkie-talkie and an airpod so Noelle would be able to say something.
It was Saturday evening when you could see a weird teenager sneaking into their friend's bedroom, and then two teenagers going out of the window. Noelle's white flowing dress made it quite hard, but soon friends were already on the ground.
"I'm very thankful for help, Kris!" Noelle closed her eyes and smiled. "I don't know what would I do without-"
"Let's go" Kris interrupted her, waved their hand to the side. "I know a shorter way"
And so, the teens ran to the Hometown lake through bushes and trees. Unluckily, white dress was ruined, with leaves and dirt sticking to it.
Noelle sadly sighed. That's not what her mom would approve in any way. Berdly already sat beside the bush. He waved his wing as his friends approached him.
"Greetings, Noelle!" he said. "Even though the dress is quite questionable, you look wonderful tonight"
"Thanks, Berdly" Noelle scratched her long neck awkwardly.
"Yes, by the way" a guy gave her an airpod. "Put it in your ear, I'll help you with talking"
"How do you know what to say?" a reindeer girl asked in the most polite way possible.
Berdly smiled slyly and put out of his bag a big book.
"100 and 1 way to make a girl go insane because of you" he said proudly. "I'll just read compliments and puns, and all you have to do is to repeat in the most natural way! And she's all yours!"
"Of course you read alpha male books, who would have thought" Kris shook their head as they smiled mischievously. Noelle knew that smile, they wanted to make Berdly really mad.
"At least, Kris, I pull SOMEONE, and what are you pulling? Pies from the oven?"
"The pies are really tasty actually" Kris smirked as they saw already angry Berdly and added. "And they're real. Unlike your waifu from that anime dating game"
"DON'T YOU DARE TREATING MONIKA LIKE THAT, YOU, UNCULTURED MORON!"
Noelle kinda panicked when she saw her friends arguing again, but she panicked much more when she saw Susie coming to the lake. When she panics she somehow gets stronger, and she has no idea why. Noelle squeaked as she threw both of her friends to the side, in the bushes.
Susie didn't seem to notice, but she sure seemed to be unbothered. Like she always did. Piece of chalk in her mouth, messy hair, and... Sure a lovely outfit.
Susie wore a purple shirt, which wasn't ironed at all, trousers bigger than her size, and a little bowtie which she just wore around her neck like a necklace.
Noelle gulped nervously. Her dress was a total mess! How was she supposed to talk to her girlfriend, who always looks like a goddess, while having her dress all dirty and in leaves?
It was too late to think though.
"Hey" Susie said as she approached Noelle.
"Um! Hi, Susie!" Noelle waved her hand and looked down. She was really embarrassed. Her friends didn't help much.
"TELL HER SHE LOOKS STUNNING!!! MAKE A MOVE!!!"
"Susie is-"
"SHUT UP, KRIS, CAN'T YOU SEE I'M TRYING TO HELP NOELLE??"
"And I yesterday tried to help your mom-"
Yeah, they didn't help.
Yet it was amazing how Susie could not hear the sounds which came exactly from kinda suspicious bushes.
"Noelle, you good?" Susie asked. It made Noelle get out of her thoughts.
"Why yes! I'm fine! All good!" Noelle smiled nervously and scratched her neck. "Just zoomed out a little"
"Alright" purple girl shrugged her shoulders. "Wanna go somewhere?"
"NO" reindeer girl instantly replied. She then added softly "I mean. I like it, the lake"
"Yeah, it sure is nice"
The girls sat down, now talking about their day and weather and news - everything you talk about with your crush when you're fifteen.
"You two are talking, pheromones are flying in the air, romance is alive!" Berdly exclaimed quietly. "Compliment her! Sweep her off her feet!"
"Uh, that's a nice bowtie you have!" Noelle blushed hard as she said it. She could see Susie blushing, too.
"Thanks, I found it in garbage" Susie proudly admitted. "Your dress is pretty"
"It's quite dirty though"
"Nah, dirt just makes everything better"
The situation became more awkward than before.
"Repeat after me: "Susan, your stunning looks and gaming skills inspire me a lot, which is why I'm very proud to be called your girlfriend"!"
"That's not how you compliment Susie"
"I simply don't care about your opinion, student number three, I'm too busy with being actually helpful"
"Mike is much better at this"
"Mike who?"
"Mike Hock"
Weird sounds came out of the bush, one of them resembled a bird tweeting.
"Huh, birds are pretty loud today" Susie claimed as she looked around. She didn't see any birds, which made Noelle give out a sigh of relief.
"Yes, with mating season and such" Noelle giggled. She knew Berdly definitely heard that, and it made her laugh. The reaction was immediate.
"WHAT WAS THAT, NOELLE????? IT'S NOT EVEN MATING SEASON, MATING SEASON IS IN SPRING"
"You know it because of the sounds you hear from your parents' bedroom in spring?"
"I swear to science, Kris, if you keep doing these filthy comebacks, which you find funny, I don't know what I'll do to you. Shut up!"
"Make me"
Noelle could hear Kris's ironic intonation, which they used since childhood, however it seemed like Berdly didn't get it.
Strange sounds started going out of her dynamic, but Susie got all Noelle's attention for her to notice.
"You're really zoned out today" Susie said, and Noelle agreed. It wasn't hard to notice actually. Susie turned her head to see her girlfriend. "Is it because of the test?"
Noelle went quiet. She almost forgot about it, but it was really disappointing. B-, it's such a bad mark! Her mom was disappointed, too! Noelle looked down, the feeling of sadness joined the embarrassment. Susie, seeing her girlfriend like that, couldn't help but look confused and upset.
"Uh, can I?" she uplifted her arm, making it clear she wanted to give a hug. Seeing Noelle nodded, Susie put her arm onto her girlfriend's shoulder. She didn't know how to comfort but tried her best. "Marks don't... Really make a person, y'know?"
"I know!" Noelle clutched her fists, her shoulders went up. "Everybody says that. It's just... I-I have no idea why I want to have straight As so bad!"
"...anyone punished you for having bad marks?" Susie's voice was serious and dry. "Don't say if you don't wanna"
"Physically, never" Noelle answered. She admitted. "Mentally... Sometimes"
"Your dad?"
"No"
"Your mom?"
"Erm... Well..." tears started collecting in the corners of Holiday's big eyes. It was a hard conversation for her, for sure.
"Hey, hey!" Susie hugged Noelle tighter. "It's fine. Just say what's on your mind. If you wanna"
"I... I really want mom to love me and be proud of m-me!" Noelle's voice started to shake. "And I-I don't think she'll lov-ve me if I d-don't get good marks-s! I'm a disappointment-t! She'll h-hate me!"
Reindeer girl finally broke into tears. She hugged Susie strongly, her face in the crook of her girlfriend's neck. Susie's eyes widened, she watched in shock as Noelle cried her soul out.
"I j-just want-t mom t-to love me!" she sobbed. "If I'm n-not smar-rt she won't l-love me an-nymore"
"Well she's a shitty mother then" Susie narrowed her eyebrows. She pressed against Noelle so she could feel safe against her big warm body.
A couple sat like that for some good amount of minutes before Noelle got out of the hug, wiping tears. Holiday started laughing.
"She's a good mom, really. You just don't know her"
"This description is enough to hate her guts" Susie claimed. One thing slipped off her tongue "I don't care if you get an A or F, I love you either way!"
And she closed her mouth immediately, looking shocked. Noelle covered her mouth with her hands so she wouldn't scream.
"HUH???" a voice from the bushes screamed. A very familiar voice. A raspy, broken teenage voice.
"What the-" Susie stood up, wanting to go over there, but Noelle stopped her.
"Wait a second" she smiled and went up to the bush. She then jumped in it, followed by another scream and choking noises. Susie, eyes wide open, ran to the side and saw an... Interesting picture.
Still crying Noelle, her white dress all covered in dirt, choked Berdly who had a walkie-talkie in his right wing and a book in the left. Kris was also there, watching the shit go down as usual.
"What the actual FUCK is going on?!" Susie shouted, nearky making the whole town shake. Noelle let Berdly go, quite aggressive.
"He had it coming!" she squeaked, her voice cracking. "The plan was bad from the start! And then he just ruined everything by SAYING NONSENSE AND ARGUING WITH KRIS!"
"What plan?"
Kris took a deep breath.
"Noelle was grounded and I helped her to run away so she could spend some time with you and Berdly wanted to help her not to be a stupid stumbling mess which she is when she's around you but his 'astonishing plans' went down because this motherfucker can't help but say the rudest and the worst things possible and can't hold his beak closed for his own fucking sake and so he ruined your date congratulations it's a fucking shit show because anything Berdly does is a fucking shit show" they said in the most monotone voice possible.
All three watched them in horror and confuse.
"You agreed to go on a date with me just now though" Berdly wheezed. Kris's cheeks reddened.
"Doesn't make it less of a shit show"
"You both shut the heck up!" Noelle hyperventilated and fell to the ground, she was too overwhelmed to talk normally.
As ten minutes of nonsensical argument lasted, the compromise was finally found. Four of them went to the café and peacefully grabbed tea and snacks. They tried not to bring that wild situation up. Running away, walkie-talkie and an alpha male book, love confession and Noelle-almost-choked-Berdly-to-death is quite a big thing when you're a teenager and it all happens within one hour.
When they went out of the café, their ways partened. Kris, winking to Susie mischievously, went with Berdly. And Susie decided to walk with Noelle to her home. Two girls stood against each other as they said their goodbyes.
"Um... This date was a mess. Sorry about that" Noelle looked away as she tried to clean her dress. "I just really wanted to meet you, and then Kris and Berdly wanted to help me and... And I used you as a therapist. I'm really sorry"
"Nah, what the hell are you talking 'bout?" Susie put her hands on Noelle's shoulders. "That's okay to share your problems, I don't mind"
"Alright" Noelle nodded. She blushed when she brought up the next theme. "Um... Did you really meant those three words?"
"Yeah no how about we stop talking for a while" Susie's purple cheeks flashed with pink and she scratched her arm. "I was worried, okay?! And the first thing that came to mind-"
"No, no, you're fine!" Noelle has gone red even through her light brown fur. "I just want to say that I... I love you too!"
"Oh... Um... Thanks" Susie realized what she said and slapped her own face. Noelle giggled.
The silence became more comfortable than anything. In late autumn night comes faster. It was about 9pm, but the sky was already really dark as it was 3am. Under the light of the street lights, here they stood. Talking about silly little things, holding hands. They spent about thirty minutes like this, before Noelle realized she needs to go.
"It was a fun evening!" Holiday said as she opened entrance of the gates. "Thank you for spending time with me"
"Anything for you" Susie jokingly saluted. She was about to go away when Noelle collected all power of will...
And kissed her.
On a cheek.
Susie couldn't process a thing before Noelle screamed goodbye and ran to her window.
"What a nice date" Noelle thought. "And all like Kris said, no one even caught me!"
Was it a surprise when she climbed in her room and saw her dad on her chair, drinking tea. Noelle squeaked! Rudy turned his head and smiled.
"Hi there" he said, no echo of anger or disappointment in his voice. "How's yo date been?"
"Date?" Noelle wheezed. She tried to keep it cool. "What are you talking about? What date? No date, I just... Uh... Breathed some fresh air!"
"Sweetie, your lyin' skills are very bad" dad snored as he saw his nervous daughter.
"...are you going to tell mom about it?"
" 'bout what?"
"About how I didn't listen to her, disobeyed, ran away and rebelled against her will!" Noelle exclaimed, her anxiety showing.
She nearly cried as she looked at her dad. Rudy chuckled, then starting to laugh out loud. Noelle was really confused. What was funny about it?
"That's what youth call "rebelling" these days?" he rhetorically asked, still laughing. "Oh, Noelle, at your age I smoked, rode a motorbike and was flirtin' with any lass or lad I saw!"
"...really?"
"Yo old man was a hotheaded mess of a teen, I'm tellin' ya" Rudy winked at his daughter, who started to calm down. "Quit worryin', your teeny-tiny secret is safe with me"
"Thank you, dad" Noelle sighed and smiled softly.
Who would have thought the Saturday evening can be so wild and messy for a good girl? 'Rebelling' like that was nice, though. It gave Noelle some sort of freedom she couldn't achieve while always listening to mom.
Maybe it isn't so horrible, to rebel? To be a 'bad' girl? Who would've known. Dating Susie really brought some extreme to Noelle's life.
Not that she disliked it. Vice versa, actually.
Noelle hasn't known what her future awaits, but she knows it'd be very nice if Susie (and Kris and Berdly, of course) was in it.
"How was the date then?"
"Dad!"
