Wei Wuxian had never pictured himself having a fun, whirlwind summer romance. But the summer of his junior year of high school, he found himself making out with his classmate, Hua Cheng, on every surface they could.
See, the two of them were both in love with people that didn’t return their feelings. One night at a party that Nie Huaisang was throwing with Shi Qingxuan, the two ended up drinking together. It didn’t take long for them to start lamenting about the men they loved that were oblivious to their feelings.
After Hua Cheng admitted that he didn’t feel worthy of his love, Wei Wuxian had leaned in and pressed a sloppy kiss to his mouth. They spent a good portion of that night making out by the pool, only stopping when Jiang Cheng came to drag his brother home.
Which was a very common sight for him ever since.
“Ugh, again?” Jiang Cheng’s voice had Wei Wuxian pulling his tongue out of Hua Cheng’s mouth. He glared at his brother but was quickly distracted when Hua Cheng’s hand slid down to his ass and gave it a squeeze. He shared a smirk with the man before leaning back in to connect their mouths. When his bedroom door slammed shut behind them, he pulled back with a chuckle.
“If you can get my annoying brother to leave me alone, I’ll keep you around all the time.” He said, leaning down to nibble on one of Hua Cheng’s ears. Hua Cheng reached up, tangling his fingers in his hair, and directing his mouth down to his neck instead.
“Done.” When the hand in his hair tightened its grasp, Wei Wuxian let out a pleased moan, more than happy to suck beneath Hua Cheng’s ear.
They weren’t just horny teenagers all day, every day. Sometimes they went out and did normal date stuff.
Take today for example. The two were going to see some terrible comedy that Wei Wuxian couldn’t convince his brother or best friend to go see with him.
Since it was a date, Wei Wuxian had put on his favorite pair of skinny jeans and a hoodie he had stolen out of Hua Cheng’s car a week or two ago. He was really feeling himself today, so he even added a little bit of lip gloss.
Between his ass being on display and the shine of his lips acting as a homing beacon, he hoped that he was thoroughly ravished in the theater.
“Did you get the popcorn?” Wei Wuxian was putting the straws in their popcorn when Hua Cheng came in from parking the car. He shot him a smile over his shoulder, a warm surge of giddy affection shooting through him as his boyfriend’s hands settled on his hips. After pressing a quick kiss to his lips, those hands slid forward and wrapped around his waist. He leaned into the touch, parting his lips to invite Hua Cheng’s tongue into his mouth. He moaned, leaning up a little as arousal pooled into his gut.
“Sure did. And drinks and candy.” He said when he pulled back, licking away some of the saliva from the kiss.
“Good.” Hua Cheng released his waist to take the drinks, leaning the popcorn and candy to Wei Wuxian.
About fifteen minutes into the movie, Wei Wuxian realized they were alone in the theater. He grinned, eagerly moving the popcorn to the empty seat next to him.
“Wanna make out?” He leaned over to ask. His boyfriend lifted the arm of the chair between them, patting his lap in a silent acceptance of Wei Wuxian’s plan. He beamed, eagerly climbing into his lap.
“Didn’t you want to see this movie?” Hua Cheng couldn’t help but ask. Wei Wuxian moaned as his hands slid to his ass, giving it a harsh squeeze before sliding up and into his hoodie. He shrugged, leaning down press their lips together. When the chair suddenly shook, he let out a surprised gasp. Hua Cheng chuckled against his mouth. Wei Wuxian pulled back a little to see that he was reclining the chair.
“These reclining seats are the best thing to ever hit movie theaters.” Wei Wuxian whispered, gasping when Hua Cheng leaned in to bite the base of his throat.
“I agree.”
Similar excursions happened for two glorious months. All good things must come to an end, and so Wei Wuxian found himself spending his final night with Hua Cheng.
He was only in town for the summer, and neither were committed enough to the fling to try a long-distance relationship. Still, Wei Wuxian found himself a little sad that this was the last night they had together.
After sharing a dinner at an upscale restaurant and then returning to Hua Cheng’s hotel room to have one last romp in the sheets, Wei Wuxian let out a sigh.
“Hua Cheng?” Wei Wuxian broke their peaceful silence.
“Hm?” Hua Cheng asked, rubbing a hand down Wei Wuxian’s bare back.
“I’ve really enjoyed out time together. Thanks for making my summer of hell a little more bearable.” He said, sitting up a little to smile at him. Hua Cheng’s expression softened, and he tugged Wei Wuxian down to kiss him again.
“I should be thanking you. You were a wonderful companion over the last couple of months.” He said when they pulled back. Wei Wuxian pressed their foreheads together, closing his eyes as he fought against the urge to cry.
This was a summer that he would remember for the rest of his life.
It was ironic that years later, Wei Wuxian would end up working side by side with Hua Cheng’s love. He didn’t realize who it was until Hua Cheng appeared in their office one day to take Xie Lian out to lunch.
“Oh my god.” He gasped eyes wide. Hua Cheng had a similar reaction, and before he knew it Wei Wuxian had ran over to jump into his arms. “Oh my god, it’s been so long!” He all but shrieked.
“Wei Ying?” Lan Wangji asked in confusion.
“Wei Wuxian, you know San Lang?” Xie Lian murmured. Wei Wuxian nodded, removing himself from Hua Cheng to go and wrap his arms around his fiancé’s arm.
“Yeah. Lan Zhan, this is the guy that got me through that summer you were away.” He explained.
“Oh.” Lan Wangji said, and when he relaxed, Wei Wuxian chuckled and leaned up to kiss his cheek.
“No need to be jealous.” He whispered. His fiancé didn’t say anything, instead just watching as Xie Lian took Hua Cheng’s hand.
“Ah, so this is your beloved.” Hua Cheng said, giving Lan Wangji a once over. When he nodded his approval, Wei Wuxian couldn’t help the elated laugh that escaped him. “This is my beloved, Xie Lian.” He said, squeezing Xie Lian’s hand. Xie Lian blushed at the use of his real name, and he stepped closer to press his reddened face against Hua Cheng’s side.
“I’m glad we both ended up happy.” Wei Wuxian said. Hua Cheng nodded, wrapping his arm around Xie Lian’s shoulders so he could hide against his side.
“Me too.”
