Summary
A mission goes awry while another has come to an end, the timing changing lives in a matter of seconds.
The injury to his thigh concerned him since the exit wound was consistent with ammunition that caused considerable damage. It was imperative that he get to his motel and contact headquarters, needing to urgently request extraction and lay low until someone came to his rescue. He was midthought when he felt a knife at the front of his neck, the blade biting into sweat-drenched skin.
“Rats always hide in the holes they think no one will ever find,” a man with a gruff voice said, tugging on his hair so hard he shouted, “When I get done with you, you’re gonna wish you were dead.”
Fear cascading through him, his mind was filled with various torture techniques the organization was known to favor. They were particularly brutal and while it terrified him, he’d bite his own tongue off before divulging any secrets of Interglobal or its operatives. Knowing he’d be taken at any moment, he covertly dug a chip out of his jacket, pressed the button on it, and let the device fall out of his hands and onto the ground before being hauled away.
