Chapter Text
Helaena felt the sand skid across her skin as the waves kept crashing into her. One after the other, she found some form of peace from the motion. The energy from the open waters seemingly sang against her skin with each breath it took. Dreamfyres slow movements in the sand echoed softly as the sleepy dragon enjoyed the peace and quiet along with her odd companion. The sound of the ocean waves was disrupted by the splash of water bracing against the natural flow, his towering frame stopping beside her.
“You’ll catch a cold if you stay out here any longer, sister.” Aemond looked out at the ocean. His one eye scanned the shoreline to see if any of their enemies were waiting.
“Beware the pitter-patter, it only leads to death.” She looked out at the bay, seeing the shadows that were to come. Hearing the roars and screams echoing loudly. Dreamfyre raised her head at her words, a low mumble to Vhagar who perched above the ledge. Aemond sighed before fully sitting with her in the waves, the clothes soaking in the salty water.
“Helaena, mother is looking for you.” Her head snaps to his eyes a blaze.
“Beware the Pitter Patter, it only leads to death!” She growled out before relaxing back into the water. Her eyes drifted away from his face. Aemond reached over taking her one hand that drifted on top of the water. She flinched for a second before relaxing into his grip. Helaena had never denied his touch, his calmness she earned for amongst their family more than anyone else.
“I will take care to keep a lookout for danger in the rain.” Her riddles were sometimes easy to solve, while others he felt lost as almost as she does in the court of the Red Keep.
“Pitter Patter…Pitter Patter.” She mumbled, leaning her head against his shoulder. Aemond kissed her forehead, holding her hand close to his heart.
“The twins are looking for you.” He whispered softly. Helaena shook her head, knowing her mother was waiting for her. The twins she long to see, but her mother used them to get to her.
“She is always cruel.” ripping her hand from his, she finally stood up. “Cruel…Cruel…Cruel…” she muttered making her way back to shore, back to Dream Fyre.
“She is our mother, she means well.” Aemond knew defending her would do nothing.
“She will doom us all. Doom you, Doom Aegon, death is awaiting us.” Aemond reached for her, holding her face delicately in his grasp, keeping her steady and close to him.
“Death awaits every man. Valar morghulis.” Aemond softly traced his thumb across her cheek, something she always found calming. Her hand came up to his eye patch, tracing the fabric.
“Beware the pitter-patter.” She whispered, tears coming to her eyes. Nodding, Aemond kissed her forehead, giving one more kiss to her nose before Helaena buried herself into his chest, gripping around him tightly. The emotions drove her to come running to the shore before the light touched the sky finally reaching the surface.
“I will beware of the rain sister, I promise.” He melted in her embrace, while he let her cry out the dream that had brought her here. “I promise.”
