Scar is pretty sure he's going crazy.
Just a few moments ago, he was having a normal conversation with Grian- something about End Cities and big mechanical legs, Scar's mind was sorta wandering the entire time- until his vision.. shifted.
It was like the whole world was turned onto a different axis. Everything rotated, Scar was sure of it. If it weren't for the fact that he was sitting in his wheelchair, he would have definitely fallen over. Even then, knowing him, he'd probably somehow fall out of it.
But the whole world rotating thing wasn't even the weirdest part. No, that was what he saw happen in front of him.
What he saw happen to Grian.
It was almost inexplicable, what Scar saw. The first thing he noticed were the eyes- so, so, so many eyes all over Grian's face and arms and wings and even floating in the air around him, some even miles away though Scar had no idea how he could tell. The eyes were glowing purple and almost all of them stared directly into his eyes, into his soul.
What Scar didn't see was Grian's original pair of eyes. That area was covered by what looked like a piece of white ceramic molded to fit the top of his face and the bridge of his nose. It had a symbol on it, too; a rectangle with two corners cut out diagonal from each other. It was glowing the same stomach-turning purple as the eyes.
And though he couldn't see Grian's own eyes, Scar felt them looking into his own. He stared at where Grian's eyes used to he and he felt confusion, panic, distress- none of these emotions, Scar realized, belonging to him.
And then, like nothing had ever happened, everything returned to normal. The world was back on its right axis. Grian had his two regular, beady eyes again. Nothing was glowing purple or staring into his soul.
"Scar? Scar, are you there?" Scar heard Grian call, waving a hand in front of his face.
He startled, "Oh! Yeah, yeah, sorry. What were you saying about your big rock?"
And as the conversation continued, the back of Scar's neck prickled with the feeling of eyes watching him. Intently.
