Summary
Scar launched himself up, three powerful leaps carrying him above the burning heat and smoke of the city. The whir of his mechanical leg braces kicked in as he soared, leaving twin streaks of teal and orange light behind. The final leap took him over the roof of the building he’d been aiming for and a faint click-click followed as the system recalibrated to brace for the landing. His boots hit the rooftop with a solid clunk as the high-tech braces absorbed the impact and kept him steady.
From this height, he could see the stark contrast between the peaceful city beyond and the wrecked ward beneath his feet. Most of New Hermitville had escaped the chaos, but here, this small district was a war zone.

Grian’s hopelessly in love with his coworker and fellow architecture professor—Scar. He knows nothing's going to come from it, but when he finds out Scar’s got a thing for his vigilante alter-ego, Grian can’t help but use that to his advantage.
Hotguy is infatuated with his vigilante pseudo–nemesis, but Cuteguy keeps blocking his advances and he isn’t anywhere close to getting through to the man. When his civilian coworker Grian winds up in the hospital for something he should have been able to prevent, he can't stop himself from falling for the man.

In which, Grian and Scar both have secret identities, ones an illegal vigilante—the other the city's biggest hero. They ‘fight’ all night long and both go home to civilian jobs, where they unknowingly meet as coworkers. There's a big messy love square with a few breakups and more than a few stolen kisses. -

“No, it’s–” Grian fussed with his jumper and forced his wings to lay flat again. “You’re fine, I should have watched where I was going.” He looked up and felt immediately more flustered.
“Here, let me help you get cleaned up. It’s the least I can do after ruining your poor sweater.” The man smiled apologetically, the skin crinkling around his bright green eyes, and Grian felt his heart skip a beat.

Summary
After years of imprisonment, Grian finally escapes the watchers, only to find himself in Scar’s the Crafting Dead world instead. He’s determined to escape this world as quickly as he can, but it proves harder then he had anticipated.
Despite how suspicious Grian is, Scar takes Grian under his wing, teaching him how to survive. He’s just glad to have company after surviving all on his own for so long.
