Work Text:

They’d been hired for a job.

Only it turned out they weren’t actually stealing blueprints back for the guy that hired them.

They were just stealing them.

And then they almost got blown up in a warehouse. And got arrested in the hospital after said warehouse explosion. And then got out of the hospital within, like, twenty minutes of waking up. Which is super impressive. But they’re the best.

And then they got revenge.

Now they have a coffee shop together and live above it.

They needed a base of operations while they helped people and Felix made an off handed comment about being interested in making new coffee’s and tea’s and Alice's entire being lit up at that idea and then, of course, Robin went along with it because her girlfriend was interested, and Tink said she did like tea and coffee…

And that was that.

A while later and they owned a coffee shop with a loft above it.

They called it ‘Once Upon A Cafe’.

Felix and Tink had gotten together after working various jobs. Felix had had a previous relationship with a fellow thief, a hacker, named Peter Pan.

Which had ended because ‘reasons’. Eventually Felix had opened up to Tinker Bell and let her in, telling her what had happened between him and Peter.

Alice and Robin threw him a ‘congrats on getting over your ex and moving on, Tink’s amazing’ party. They made a banner and put it up in the loft and everything.

Felix was shocked when he came upstairs after helping out the other barista’s to see Alice shouting ‘surprise!’, Robin saying surprise too, and Tinker Bell standing beside them laughing as Felix looked up and saw the banner, his face going ‘what the -’, before softening at the thought they had put into it.

Alice had started coming up with new drinks too, as well as working downstairs and helping out the barista’s with Felix.

And her and Felix had fun coming up with new drinks. Blueberry tea with whip cream, caramel, and cinnamon on top. Coffee with cinnamon in and whip cream with a drizzle of maple syrup on top. Matcha tea with strawberry drizzle on top. Earl grey tea with honey in and cinnamon sprinkled on top. And so on.

Alice and Robin had started liking each other over the course of the first few jobs. They’d bonded over breakfast choices, steel cut oatmeal with nuts and seeds or whole grain toast with blueberry jam or peanut butter, favourite places to go, movies and tv, books. Alice loved Robin Hood and Robin loved Alice In Wonderland.

Tinker Bell and Robin enjoyed trying the new drinks their significant other’s came up with, as Felix and Alice excitedly put their finished drinks down in front of them on the counter, waiting to hear if they liked them or not.

They started teaching each other their own unique skills.

Felix taught pickpocketing. Alice gave coding lessons. Robin taught them how to throw a punch among other self defence and non self defence moves. Tinker Bell taught them how to read a mark and know just what to say and do around them.

For jobs they were all the Mastermind. They all had the capacity to see the bigger picture and worked together when a job went sideways to go at it from a new angle.

Of course, they’d been a work in progress.

Felix had stabbed a guy on their third job, and then promptly jumped over the balcony to get away while Robin was processing what had just happened and then notified Alice and Tinker Bell what had just happened.

And then Felix reappeared half an hour later, while Alice was frantically trying to find him, acting like he hadn’t just stabbed a guy.

He hadn’t stabbed anyone since and Tinker Bell told him, when Felix had happily told her that he hadn’t stabbed someone when the opportunity had arisen, “I’m so proud of you, no stabbing Wednesdays.”

Robin got recognized by a guy known as The Butcher on a job.

Directly after she swore that he wouldn’t recognize her.

Like, right after.

She’d barely finished the sentence when he walked out from the side of the house and saw her. They made eye contact. And for a few brief seconds, no one moved.

Tinker Bell, Alice and Felix tried hard not to laugh at the comical moment, but they also internally eye rolled because Robin had just got done assuring them that he would have no idea who she was. And then he did. And they fought. And she won.

Apparently Alice knew Peter Pan. They’d worked together, years ago. Had even developed a friendship and lived together. But something happened, and the friendship didn’t last.

They’d run into Peter on a job. Or well. Heard him on a job. He was busy doing evil stuff. Working with the guys the four thieves were going up against. But they beat him and got justice in the end.

Felix and Peter had a moment.

As in, Peter had kissed Felix once they had found Pan. Felix had been surprised at the kiss. And before he could react, Peter was running. He had an escape plan ready and had gotten away. Felix watched him go.

Alice had run up and gave Felix a hug, as he was still looking where Peter had run. And once Felix’s nostalgic look had past, he turned to Alice and hugged her back. They’d gone on to spill the tea on Peter and how there’d been more bad parts in both of their relationships than good.

Tinker Bell didn’t like to talk about her past. But she assured them that Tinker Bell was her real name. But she did have a secret.

She was a fairy. Like, an actual fairy. Fairy’s were real. And other magical beings, as well.

Felix was amazed. Alice was ecstatic. Robin was amazed as well, and then started asking questions, to which Tinker Bell answered, and then told her that there were times flying could’ve been helpful. But they all understood why Tink hadn’t said anything.

Once the shock had passed, Felix kissed Tink with all his being, and she kissed him back, happy he was understanding. And then she showed them her green translucent wings. The three other thieves were amazed. Felix and Alice jumped in and started asking questions, too.

Tinker Bell then introduced them to other magical beings that she knew. Some of them were thieves also, or they wanted to help people like the four of them were doing.

So they taught them their skills or got their help on jobs and learned more about the magical world that had been hidden. And their coffee shop became a hub for thieves and magical beings to meet up and make the world a more better and inclusive place.
