Aleksi was lying awake, staring at the ceiling while trying not to think too much as he did so often. He could hear Robin's soft, even breaths next to him. Usually, he found that sound to be calming but not today, not tonight…
The heat of the moment was torn from his body as fast as it had come. The moment he flopped down next to his lover the warm feeling was already fading again. Robin pulled him close, arms tight around the soft, pale body next to him. It was quiet until they had regained their breaths, Aleksi snuggling into Robin's side.
“I like being close to you. You're warm…” Aleksi mumbled against Robin's chest, voice barely audible. Robin only pulled him closer, pressing a kiss to his forehead.
Aleksi felt the urge to cry. He missed this, he missed feeling Robin's body heat next to him, missed snuggling into the comforting warmth, being wrapped in by warm arms. Yes, Robin was lying next to him at this very moment, quietly breathing and halfway buried underneath the soft blanket. But now he was as cold as Aleksi, the only time they ever had any body heat was right after feeding.
It was his fault, he knew that. He had buried his sharp fangs in Robin's neck, his wrist too. But what else was he supposed to do? He couldn't lose him, couldn't let Robin be taken away from him. He loved Robin, he had known that from the very moment he had met him, and even though he had sworn to protect him at all costs and not let any harm come to the other man he had eventually stood before the choice of either turning him or losing him forever…
Now he was crying, barely warm tears running down his cheeks. He just wanted to go back, wanted to feel Robin hug him once more, a warm body pressing against his own.
“Hey, baby…” Aleksi felt a hand gently brushing his cheek, a thumb wiping the tears away. “Allu, why are you crying? What's wrong?” Robin sat up, wrapping his arms around Aleksi.
“I… I'm so, so s-sorry… I'm so sorry…”
“Shh, darling,” Robin hummed, pulling him closer. “It's okay, everything is alright. Don't cry, love, please. Don't waste your tears on this… I love you so, so much and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.”
Aleksi wanted to object, wanted to say so many things but Robin didn't let him.
“I love you, Allu,” Robin said, placing his hand on Aleksi's cheek. “And I'm looking forward to spending a lifetime with you, no matter how long that might be. Waking up next to you every morning.”
A tiny smile lit up Aleksi's face for a second before he felt soft lips being placed on his and closed his eyes with a sigh and maybe, just maybe he felt like Robin's lips still had a hint of warmth clinging to them when they gently moved against his own.
