After turning down her boyfriend’s very public proposal and quitting her job, Elise returns to Pelican Town after 10 years. She decides she needs a fresh start, and what better place to do that than the only place that brought her any kind of joy in her childhood?
When she arrives, she rekindles old friendships, and at first seems to fit seamlessly back into her old life. When old feelings from the past get brought up though, she’s forced to face unresolved anxieties and problems that she thought were dead and buried. Covering for her best friend Sam seemed like the right choice at the time 10 years ago, but it ended up being the downfall of all of her relationships, and now everything’s changed. As she struggles to make a new home for herself, she hopes that she can settle back into a life that once felt familiar, and make it her own.
