“Is that like—” Kate tilted her head. “A monster? With tentacles?”
Clint frowned, looking back down at his pumpkin. “What? It’s Lucky! Obviously.”
Lila snorted. “It’s better than what he carved last year.” Kate looked at Lila’s pumpkin; she had carved out an hourglass symbol, with a black widow spider dangling next to it.
Cooper’s pumpkin had the traditional triangle eyes and nose, with toothy grin. Laura was helping Nate with his, or really doing it for him, since he was too young to carve his own. He’d drawn a monster face on his, and Laura (who was scary good with a knife, like holy shit) was expertly carving out a large 3D eye and big, spiky teeth for his.
Her own pumpkin had a beautiful carving of the farmhouse at night, complete with the moon and a starry sky above. And Kate’s…
“Let’s see yours, kid.” Clint nodded at Kate’s pumpkin, and she turned it around so they could see it.
“It’s a Christmas tree!” Nate said, and Kate smiled at him
“Are those arrows hanging from it?” Lila asked.
“Yep.” Kate grinned, “And a boomerang arrow as the topper.” Clint shook his head, but his smile was wide.
