If there was one thing they had learned from extended time in the sunshine state, it was the weather had a mind of its own. That being said, they were caught in a downpour on their walk back to the hotel.
Out of breath from their race to get inside and soaked to the bone, none of them expected to be greeted with the hotel room, more-or-less, turned upside down.
“Claire, what on earth…” Jody gasped stepping over an overturned chair. “Claire!”
“Hey, hey, hey! Watch where you’re stepping!” Claire came running from her room, moving Jody aside before she could step into one of the many salt rings the sheriff was just noticing scattered across the floor.
“Claire…” Jody said, continuing to look around at the chaos. “What happened while we were out?”
“Well I can tell you what didn’t happen!” Claire said frantically. “I didn’t find the damn spider!”
“The spider?” Jody repeated
“Can we please not start this again!” Kaia sighed. “Claire got a big ass spider to try to scare Dean and she lost it.”
The whole group turned to Claire. “You what!? ” Was said pretty much unanimously, before they erupted into a buzz of questions and concerns and panic over the still missing spider.
“Will you all just
shut up
for a second!” Claire said loudly. Once there was silence Claire let out a deep breath and picked up the overturned chair, collapsing into it, and told them about the ghost kid.

“Oofta.” Donna said, breaking the silence after Claire had finished her story. “I can see why you went so heavy on the salts, kiddo. Creepy disembodied children giggles is a line you don’t cross. So – uh – now what do we do about it?”
They all turned to Dean and Sam.
“Uhh… I mean – I guess we can try to summon it.” Sam suggested. “See if it’s malevolent. Maybe it knows what’s tying it to the hotel.”
That turned out to be difficult as even with their strongest summoning spell, no ghost kid appeared. “Maybe you’re saying it wrong.” Dean whispered to Sam, instantly receiving a bitch face for the insult.
“Dean, how many times have we summoned spirits… I didn’t say it wrong!”
“Ok, ok… sorry.”
“Claire, are you sure what you heard wasn’t just a kid out in the hall?” Cas chimed in. “It’s close to halloween, someone could have been pulling a prank.”
Claire narrowed her eyes at the angel. “It said my name. So unless… unless… ” She turned the glare to Dean. “Unless someone wants to confess to it, I doubt it was that.” Dean looked at Claire confused, and she rolled her eyes.
They continued to wait, to no avail. No ghosts showed up. No more whispers or giggles were heard. Eventually they gave up and after helping Claire – which everyone informed her she owed them for – clean the suite from her escapade, they all headed to bed.

Claire laid awake with Kaia cuddled up at her side. “ Rain, rain, go away.” A soft voice whispered.
“Kaia!” Claire gasped, bolting upright in the bed.
“Hmm?” Kaia mumbled, still half asleep.
“Was that you?”
“Was what me?”
“ Come again another day.” The voice continued.
“ That! Did you hear it?!” Claire waited for Kaia’s answer, shaking her when she didn’t get one. “Babe! Did you hear it?”
“ All the kiddies want to play.”
“Kaia!” Claire screamed and finally her brown eyes popped open.
Kaia sat up and glared at Claire. “What is it!?”
“Don’t you hear it?”
“Hear what , Claire?”
“The singing!”
“What singing?” Claire clamped a hand over Kaia’s mouth and the two girls listened to the silence. “What the hell…” Claire sighed.
“I’m going to bed. If this ghost kid continues to serenade you, tell it to F off.” Kaia laid down and wrapped the blanket tightly around her shoulders, taking no time to begin her soft snoring again.
Claire listened for another moment. What the heck… I’m losing it! She yawned, finally feeling tired.
