Chapter Text

His blade scraped across the ice, scattering small flakes on it as he came to a quick stop. A sigh escaped him as he slowly glided over to the edge of the rink to retrieve his water bottle.

As he drank from it, he felt eyes watching him. A shiver ran down his spine. This gaze, it felt intimidating but in somewhat of an unintentional way, on top of that when he glanced around he couldn’t see who it was. The only person he knew that was at the rink at that time was the owner’s granddaughter, a lively girl named Emu. Her and Tsukasa had talked a few times, but more often then not she was busy with either giving beginner skating lessons or running around doing other work related things.

But he noticed this strange expression she had sometimes, he couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but it seemed almost like she’d given up on something special. He didn’t want to pry though, not yet at least seeing as they weren’t all that close just yet, but he did want to help her. She had done so much for him, he at least wanted to help her through the tough times.

He sighed and set the water down, going back out to the center of the ice to practice.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the rink sitting in the left most lower corner of a set of bleachers, sat a purple and blue haired boy. He watched in concentration as the boy on the ice turned and jumped in what he believed to be the most matching way to his own style.

It truly did fascinate him. But he had to stop himself from getting too curious, not yet at least. He needed more time to observe and plan before he took any actions.

“Rui..” a soft voice came from next to him “why don’t you just go talk to him? You’ve been doing this whole watching thing for a while now” the girl had light green hair with muted colored clips in it.

The boy, Rui, simply smiled “I have to make sure he’s the one, I can’t just choose anyone for this.. on top of that I want to make sure I won’t scare him off with such a bold proposition” in his hand, he fiddled with a small remote control before putting it down. “I’ll ask him in an hour if he hasn’t left by then., but.. something tells me he’ll be here a lot longer than that.”

Nene simply replied with a “mmhm..”

“Yup!”

“Mhm”

“Great, I’ll see you tomorrow for lessons! Have a Wonderhoy day!!”

The pink haired girl set down the phone and grabbed a glittery blue pen before writing a name down on a list titled ‘Sunday beginner lessons’

Emu had been working at the rink since she was 14, now 16. She started out simply cleaning skates and helping her grandfather clean up the place, and she gradually began to do more things, like answering the phone, working the counter, and even, of recently, hosting skating lessons.

As she looked at the list, her smile began to slowly fade and she sighed.

Recently the rink hasn’t been gettin very much business, Emu feared that if they didn’t get more people coming in, they would go out of business. After all, that’s why she started doing lessons, to raise more money. But not many people signed up, and on top of that, this alone wouldn’t be enough to save this place.

.. she needed something better, and fast. Before it was too late.

As she tried to think, her attention was turned to the window, leading off to the rink. He watched as Tsukasa twirled with grace and practice, it started to give her a little bit of inspiration.

Maybe he was just what she needed to keep this place running.. but a little more. Maybe even a small group would work.

Though, as much as she wanted to stay positive, she knew it would take more than just a miracle to get everything in time.

But maybe.. just maybe it’s possible…
