As Robin walked up to the Wheelers' front door, she could already hear the clamor of chaos from inside. It was Halloween, so she assumed the loud noises were the Wheelers getting ready for the night out on the town. She and Nancy had planned to go to a secluded hill to stargaze, but knowing Nancy, she'd probably accepted to do something for her family instead without meaning to. Sometimes, being a worry wart has is perks, one of those being that Robin almost always came prepared. In this case, she had a backup mask and dark jacket in her trunk of which she herself had no idea why she had or needed.
Before she could even get her hand out of her pocket to knock, the front door burst open to the flurry of Mike Wheeler rushing out the door, followed by a quick sorry from him as he bumped into Robin. A voice followed the running boy from upstairs, telling him to be back by 8:00 (20:00).
Robin decided to invite herself in to the house. She found Mrs. Wheeler hurrying Holly down the stairs to where Nancy was, Robin assumed, waiting for the girl. Mrs. Wheeler was quick to speed through the door, saying a quick 'hi' to Robin on her way out. Nancy was rummaging through cabinets looking for something while Holly was getting into her costume. Robin just awkwardly stood near the front door as she watched the scene, wishing she had popcorn.
She stood in silence as she watched, until Nancy held something up and cried out, "Bingo!" Robin wasn't the only one to jump, though, as she saw Holly nearly jump out of her skin. The poor girl looked like she'd seen a ghost, to which Robin had to guiltily stifle a laugh. She watched as Nancy handed whatever thing she had found to Holly, the latter looking at the object disdainfully.
Just then did Robin realize what the object was. It was a bag for Holly to use to hold candy, but it looked old and torn. For some reason or other, Robin remembered that she had a bag in her car that was in a way better condition. Though the bag was smaller, it was still better. She'd argue it to be better, at least. Not really thinking about it, Robin returned to her car to grab the bag. She also grabbed the mask and jacket just in case she needed it.
When she walked back through the door, Nancy's eyes went wide. "Robin! I'm so sorry, I forgot about our plans, but I agreed to take Holly trick-or-treating." Robin smiled at the anxious girl. "Nance, it's alright. We can stargaze another night. Tonight, however, we need to show this town who's the best at trick-or-treating." Turning to Holly, she added, "Isn't that right?" Holly jumped up and down, squealing in happiness.
Crouching down next to Holly, Robin whispered, "I got you another bag that is wayyy cooler than the one Nancy gave you." Holly giggled at this and hugged Robin. She handed over the bag to the kid, then stood up to looked at Nancy. "Better step up your game, Wheeler. I might just become your sister's favorite," Robin said as she put her hands on her hips. At this, Nancy rolled her eyes, but began to usher the trio out through the door.
Robin began to talk about some random Halloween facts she'd learned through accidental rabbit holes of research when Holly suddenly cut her off. "Do you know where the best candies are?" she asked. Robin grinned from ear to ear. "Of course I do, my friend. See, there are some rich people..."
Nancy couldn't help but smile at the two ahead of her as the group began to walk down the street.
