Summary
NOTE: You don't need to know Young Americans to understand the story. Jake and Hamilton can just be considered OCs.
Short version: Damon has a human doppelganger and his name is Hamilton Fleming (a character played by very young Ian in 'Young Americans' waaaaay back in 2000) so the timeline of 'Young Americans' is pushed forward by ten years to coincide with TVD.
Long version: 15 year old Hamilton Fleming ends up doing his first semester of freshman year at Mystic Falls high. Of course, this means that Jake Pratt hacked her way into the system and will be joining Hamilton at Mystic Falls High too. Being new kids and misfits, they both end up befriending a boy named Jeremy Gilbert, which eventually leads to a lot of supernatural discoveries. One of the strangest though, even before they find out about vampires, is the fact that Hamilton looks almost exactly like a man named Damon Salvatore, except Ham is about 9ish years younger, at least physically. Turns out that Elena Gilbert isn’t the only one with a freaky inexplicable doppelganger effect. Will Hamilton survive being Damon’s doppelganger in TVD season 1?
