A Perfect Evening

Summary:

A quiet summer evening in the Bonnet-Teach home

Notes:

Slowvember day 2 prompt fill: porch swing and lemonade

Work Text:

Stede loved this time of day, after the sun had set, and the remaining daylight teetered on the edge of dusk and full dark. When the fireflies danced about, twinkling beacons to rival the stars that were starting to peek their heads out in the sky above. Soon the peepers would begin their nightly chorus, adding to their song to the music of the evening.

He sat on the porch swing, legs tucked under him, rocking gently back and forth in the soft breeze. This was a perfect summer evening; Mother Nature was striking up the band and preparing another exquisite light show, and Stede had a front row seat. There was only one thing missing.

The porch swing creaked as Ed sat down next to him. “I thought you might be thirsty, so I made us some raspberry lemonade.” He handed Stede a tall glass, ice clinking against the sides.

Stede shuffled around on the swing until he’d settled himself against Ed, head resting on his beloved’s chest, as a warm arm wrapped around him and pulled him close. He took a sip of the lemonade, “Mmm, thank you, dear.”

Yes. Now that Ed was here, it was a perfect summer evening.
