Chapter Text
There might be a better way to plan these long weekends out to see Osamu but Keiji hasn't thought of it yet. When the bullet train pierces through the steel of the city, there is a brief moment when Keiji can admire the scenery.
Ignited by the setting sun, the minute edges of the distant leaves singe golden. The autumn foliage is peaceful in a way. The life in the branches of trees burns itself up before winter falls. It looks divine, if only for a moment.
Keiji is certain he only blinked before the world outside the window is murky with the smoke of nightfall. Well, autumn can't all be good. The pleasant views can't exist without miserable dank and dark days which hold them.
Keiji sighs. With over 2 hours to go, the train window is mirror dark. There is nothing to look at aside from his own tired reflection. He supposes he might as well badger some of his writers into keeping to their deadlines. He knows they will all ignore his emails but he needs to do something to occupy his time.
This commute is much easier in the summer. The daylight stretches beyond the time Keiji steps onto the train and all of his writers are at least in higher spirits. Keiji wouldn't consider not travelling at all, but he knows he is tired of it. The journey is a long one when his manager is putting pressure on him all week and he doesn't have the luxury of ignoring his work emails until Monday.
For all the complaints that Keiji has about this arrangement, he knows better than to voice them aloud. He doesn't mind it really.
By the time he makes it to Onigiri Miya he is glad to be warmly welcomed home.
