the morning starts off as normal as any morning tsukasa has woken up on. he first makes sure his hair isn’t bent the wrong way, does a star-like stretch on this bed, and then concluding with getting into his slippers to get out of bed without having his feet meet the cold floor.
today, tsukasa lays in bed, thinking about what to do in the morning before having to meet the rest of his troupe for breakfast. he definitely wanted to make breakfast for saki and himself, but what? he thinks about the ingredients left in the kitchen cupboards. oh, he reckons he has enough to make a small batch of pancakes! he decides on making pancakes. pancakes were a wonderful food, for breakfast food or not.
to start off this morning as usual, he fumbles a bit with his hair, patting his bangs down to make sure it was curling to his left. it indeed was, a star sleeps perfectly! step two completed. now, if he could just wiggle his legs and arms open to do his little stretch—
until he notices he’s trapped by something, no wait, someone.
oh right, rui slept over. he’s in his bed. he’s supposed to wake him up today.
rui still has his arms around tsukasa, trapping him in a warm embrace. tsukasa grumbles softly. how had he not woken up yet? “ruui, i have to go make breakfast first, you can sleep in a little more if you’d like,” tsukasa whispers gently, trying to not completely wake him up.
maybe it’s the way tsukasa spoke to him, or how much his loud, booming voice would contrast the way tsukasa’s voice would be gentler around those he truly cared about. it made rui feel at ease. it made rui feel safe. maybe that safety is why he melts into tsukasa's embrace so easily, as if he was meant to be there.
now, tsukasa was conflicted. if he stayed any later, he wouldn’t be in time to make pancakes, and reach phoenix wonderland on time. meeting emu late was not as bad, as one could easily sway her with candy or distracting her from the topic all together. but nene, nene was what scared tsukasa. she knew better than to be bribed by simple things. to tsukasa though, just disappointing the two made his stomach drop. groaning as quietly as possible, tsukasa tried to pry rui’s hands off of his waist. rui’s grip only got tighter, and he presses his head against tsukasa sleepily. he mutters a single word.
“stay.”
tsukasa blinked and stared at his boyfriend. for some reason, he couldn’t bring himself to scold him, and this occured everytime rui was in a sleepy state. tsukasa runs his fingers through rui’s hair, and resists the strong urge to kiss him all over. tsukasa simply can't explain why, but there's something so strange about rui still in a sleepy state, he could never bring himself to break him out of it. maybe it's how he doesn't have the energy to make ridiculous comments and mumbles everything he says instead. maybe it's how he subconsciously rubs his head against tsukasa so he’s reminded he’s still there and pays attention to him. maybe it's just how he just looks so much softer, so precious it made tsukasa want to cherish him for eternity, and he would. sighing in defeat, tsukasa snuggles back into bed with rui, and wraps his hands around him too. sleepy rui makes a happy noise in response.
maybe, he could afford to be a little, just a little, late for practice.
emu and nene could, get breakfast together or something, he reckons.
