Work Text:
As Enid enter the room, she noticed that Wednesday was still in the same spot age was in when Enid left.
That was nearly three hours ago.
The girl didn’t seem to notice her when she entered, her focus remained on the board in front of her.
Enid came back to the room to grab her favorite hoodie, she had expected Wednesday to be asleep.
She hated the idea of Wednesday overworking to the point of exhaustion. Enid could tell it was affecting her sleep.
An idea suddenly came to her mind.
Movie night. Just the two of them, it would be a good bonding moment and Wednesday could get the sleep she needs.
Slowly closing the door behind her, Enid went to the kitchen to make popcorn for their movie.
She reached into the cupboard underneath the tabletop and pulled out a bag of popcorn and plopped it into the microwave.
Technically, students weren’t allowed to use the kitchen without supervision, but nobody paid attention to that rule.
It was a dumb rule and was broken on a daily basis by everyone. If they wanted to keep the student out, they could’ve at least put a lock on it (not that, that would help).
The werewolf was interrupted from her thoughts by footsteps coming towards her and a voice.
“Hey Enid, whatcha doing?”
Enid turned around and saw Ajax.
“Making popcorn, I’m having a movie night with Wednesday.”
“That doesn’t sound like the Wednesday Addams I’ve heard so much about,” Ajax said quietly as if someone would appear around the corner any second.
I guess he heard the rumors too.
“She doesn’t know we’re watching a movie, at least not yet.” Enid took the popcorn out of the microwave and put it into a bowl.
“Okay then.” Ajax stammered out. He dug in the fridge before pulling out a can of coke.
“Bye Ajax.” Enid waved at him before turning around and exiting the kitchen.
“Ok bye!” Ajax called after her.
Enid’s known Ajax ever since she first came to Nevermore, he was one of the first friends she made.
Ajax is a Gorgan, a ‘monster’ from Greek mythology with venomous snakes for hair and the ability to turn people into stone. He usually kept his head down, always anxious about looking anyone in the eye.
He nearly turned a student to stone last year, when his beanie fell off during a fight. He stayed in his room for weeks, and only his roommate saw him during this time.
Enid tried to talk to him, and get him to open up. He ignored all her attempts to help him.
He’s grown distant lately, but he was always like that, even when they were close.
When she arrived at their shared dorm Wednesday was still in the same place, only this time she was sitting in a chair and Thing was on her shoulder.
Enid walked towards Wednesday with a skip in her step. Before she had time to tap Wednesday’s shoulder, the girl was already aware of her presence.
“What are you doing?”
“We’re going to watch a movie.” Enid sang out.
“No.” The girl before her stated.
“What? Why not?” Enid questioned.
“I don’t have time,” she grumbled.
‘Time my ass, you've been staring at the murder board for nearly three hours now.’ was what she wanted to say, instead, she said.
“Please?” The werewolf begged, “Just this once?”
Enid leaned down towards Wednesday.
The girl batted away Enid’s head with one fell swoop, eyes never moving from the board she was looking at.
“I won't speak to you for a whole day if you watch just one movie with me, I promise.”
Wednesday remained silent for a moment before speaking.
“Just one?” She asked.
“Just one.” Enid conformed.
Thing was tapping its fingers on the dark-haired girl’s shoulder.
God, I wish I knew morse code. The taller girl thought.
Wednesday took a deep sigh, before turning to face Enid.
“Fine.” She mumbled before trying to stand up, only to stumble and regain her balance against her bed.
Enid smiled at her answer, before rushing over to her bed to get her laptop, when she turned around Wednesday is glaring at her.
“I'd rather be covered in glitter and paper cuts than be caught on your bed.”
The blonde grinned at the shorter girl's remark, before walking towards her side of the dorm.
“Your bed it is.”
Wednesday and Enid laid down on the young Addams’ girl’s bed together and Enid’s laptop sat between them. The disembodied hand was standing (sitting?) on the headboard slate above them.
Wednesday had no idea how much it meant to Enid, that she was willingly sitting next to her and watching a movie.
Enid let her pick the movie, she picked Scream.
Scream is a horror movie released in 1996. The killer is a person in a ghost mask and black cloak, he goes around killing people close to the main character, Sidney Prescott.
Enid isn’t scared of horror films, really, she isn't. She's a werewolf for crying out loud, monsters shouldn't scare her. Real monsters anyway.
It was different when they were people.
Throughout the first twenty minutes, Enid noted that Wednesday was fighting sleep, her eyes were drooping, no matter how much she tried to keep them open.
Wednesday continued watching the movie for ten more minutes, before drifting off to sleep in Enid’s arms.
Enid nearly yelped in surprise at the jumpscare, turning away from the screen and glancing at Wednesday, to check if she was still sleeping.
The girl hadn't moved an inch since she fell asleep. Her arms were wrapped around Enid’s torso, her head rested on the blonde's shoulder.
Suddenly, the suspenseful music started to play, Enid prayed for the movie to be over soon. She checked the time stamp, still a while to go.
She glanced back at the screen, wrinkling her nose at the gore.
She knows she should turn it off, as the movie would give her nightmares later, but she can’t. Wednesday picked it up, she can’t bring herself to turn off the movie.
Enid wants to stay in this moment forever, Wednesday’s arms wrapped around her as she sleeps peacefully next to her. It’s the calmest Enid’s ever seen her before.
