It wasn't supposed to be like this.
Lying on the cold shower floor, the heat from the shower long since turned cold. Not that it would've made any difference, blood loss was already taken care of any body heat he may have had. Blinking became harder to do with each passing second, he could barely feel anything, he couldn't even tell if he was still clutching his stab wound.
Damn. How did they even manage to get past all the security checks? How did they even fool the metal detector?
He should've been able to do more, granted he had managed to kill his would be assassin, the body slumped near the urinal, but still, Zack had trained him so hard, drilled every single combat move he knew into his skull, he should've been able to do more….
Guess he's gotten complacent in his centuries of living….
"Cloud?.."
He barely registered his name before he was cradled in arms he knew so well. Barely felt a well worn coat covering his cold body.
Barely got a proper taste of his mate and sire's blood entering his mouth under the guise of a loving kiss before darkness took him…
He felt it happen.
He was enjoying his time off when he felt it.
Searing pain right beneath the left hand side of his ribcage. He only felt that pain only once in his millennia and reacted without thought. He dove straight off the twentieth floor balcony, going through hallways like a knife through butter when he finally found him.
He was slumped on the floor, water still pelting down on his pale body, blood circling the drain. He saw the man responsible for all this against a wall, his head taken clean off. Good.
He turned the shower off and crouched down beside his lax form.
"Cloud?..."
He knew it was pointless but even so, he needed some semblance of attention. He nearly missed the faint twitch of an eye but it was there.
Taking his coat off, he wrapped it around his lithe form , eased the Man up ever so gently into his arms and bit his tongue. This was a Bandaid motion but it would help until he got him back to their place. He pried his mouth open so softly he doubted he knew it was happening. Two more movements of his lips against his and then he was off, he'll deal with the body later on, right now he has more important matters to attend to.
He wasn't about to let the man he loved die like this..
They've been together for five hundred year's
They've still got more to come….
