“All connections have been secured to construct the most stable vessel possible. Proceed with ascension.”
Last night I fell asleep alone with a heavy heart in my closed quarters at Tenshukaku. So who are all these strangers frantically running around me?
I try moving forward but there is something stopping me. Bundles of wires pooled at my feet all leading up to…me?
“Please do not try to move so much Scaramouche, we are in the final stages of your ascension.”
Scaramouche. Who is Scaramouche? My name is Kunikuzushi.
And where has my mother gone? My eyes search around for her but she is nowhere to be seen. Why has she left me with these strange people?
“Ah I see you do not know who Scaramouche is anymore do you?” The masked man clicks his tongue.
I do not like this man. His presence gives off a coldness I am not familiar with. I watch him step towards me and adjust the wires back into place.
“Kuni? should I say then?”
Kunikuzushi . I try to speak but my voice does not register.
“You possessed a very childlike rage and a very childlike loneliness within you. I simply could not have you ascend to Godhood with those painful memories tying you down now could I? You would have wanted this.”
The more he speaks the more confused and angry I am. I want to go home. My mother must be worried about where I have gone. I must return to her.
The masked man watches me struggle with an amused grin on his face.
“Run the test one more time, he is still resistant.”
I watch as the people file out of the room leaving me alone in the coldness.

“Preparing to outflow energy into the divine core. Standby.”
The lights go dark and the wires around me light up. I do not know what is happening. Maybe a bad dream. Yes a bad dream of course, my mother would never leave me to these people. Daylight will come and I will soon be awakened in the arms of my mother.
That thought is soon crushed when a jolt of electricity pulses through my body causing me to lurch forward gasping for air. “This pain is too immense for a dream,” I thought to myself.
Have I disappointed her, has she abandoned me? I cannot remember how I got here, please take me home. Where are you?
I stare up at the ceiling holding back the tears threatening to fall. I chant out towards the sky as a final plea. I chant for my mother, my God to come take me home…but the sky is empty.
