Ashveil opens the door, and is met with a spiking scent of distress—stormy winds, crackling lightning, something tangy. It explodes in its intensity. He grips the doorknob tighter; he doesn't remember the last time he smelled a secondary scent so strongly.
If even his weathered, dulled senses are picking up on it, then whatever it is must be serious.
Or; Ashveil has never really put any effort into finding someone to spend his life with—his scent has all but faded already, anyway. He's perfectly content with passing his days in his small, self-operated local help agency and surviving on takeout.
That is, until a stressed, alpha father rushes in one day, worried about his missing pup.
