Work Text:

One second they were watching the movie, and another, they weren’t.

Ricky was the one that suggested they go to a drive-in movie together for their date night, and Nini agreed, happily grabbing blankets and pillows to decorate the back of Ricky’s pick-up truck. They ate popcorn and candy—Hershey’s chocolate bars for her, Sour Patch Kids for him—watching one of Ricky’s most favorite Marvel movies, Thor: Ragnorok, on the large screen.

Nini was also watching the movie until a slight breeze ran past her and made her shiver. When getting ready for the date, she’d underestimated the chill, only wearing a thin, long-sleeved shirt that did nothing to keep her warm. Ricky’d asked her if she wanted to grab a jacket before she left, but she’d— foolishly —refused, assuring him she’d be fine.

“Uh, babe?” Nini’s voice was sheepish as she tugged on the cuff of Ricky’s sleeve.

He tore his eyes away from the movie, popping a few gummies into his mouth. “What’s up?”

“I’m cold.”

Ricky smirked, rubbing her arm with the hand he was resting on her shoulder. “And this, babe, is why I wore many layers.” He gestured to himself. On top of his black hoodie, he had on a light-wash denim jacket. “I have a t-shirt on underneath the hoodie, too.”

Nini smiled as Ricky shifted away from her, taking off his denim jacket. “Wow, Bowen, for once, you’re prepared.”

He rolled his eyes. “Do you want the hoodie or not?”

“Yes, please.” Nini nodded, making grabby hands. She always loved wearing Ricky’s hoodies and t-shirts. He was six inches taller than her, so anything that fit him perfectly was giant on her, practically swallowing her whole. Ricky thought she always looked cute as well.

He pulled his hoodie over his head, his shirt rising along with it. For a split second, Nini caught a glimpse of his chest, and, well…

Ricky wasn’t as particularly muscular in comparison to some of the other guys at school, but he was still exceptionally handsome. Like, she really wanted to kiss him kind of handsome. Like, wondering when her dorky best friend with braces and frizzy, curly hair had grown into her perfect-ten boyfriend kind of handsome.

However, he was back to modest once the hoodie was pulled over his head and his striped t-shirt was pulled back down over his torso. “Here, take this,” he said, throwing it to her before pulling on his denim jacket. Nini grabbed it and put it on, but she feared she was a tad too hot for his fleece-lined hoodie now.

He leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. “You look cute,” he said before turning back to his movie, watching Thor trying to beat Hulk in the gladiator-esque arena battle.

Nini tried to focus on the movie, she really did, but the sight of Ricky pulling off his hoodie was now imprinted in her head, teasing her and making her really want to kiss him. She really, really wanted to kiss him.

Feeling slightly bold, Nini cupped Ricky’s cheeks bringing him down for a soft kiss. He was slack against her lips for a moment, unsure of what was happening until his mind caught up and he began to kiss her back. His hand moved under her chin, the other resting at her waist, playing with the hem of his hoodie. Would he admonish her later for distracting him from his favorite movie with kisses? Most likely. Did he appear to be complaining at the moment? Most definitely not.

He pulled away, his eyes still closed. It was something Ricky did whenever they kissed passionately, Nini had learned. It was as though he needed a moment to recoup and calm himself before he could finally look at her again. “You taste like chocolate,” he whispered, his voice quiet.

“Well, no shit, Sherlock,” Nini giggled, pressing kisses to his cheeks. “I was eating chocolate earlier.”

Ricky opened his eyes to glare at her before leaning in and pressing his lips to hers once again, this time with more fervor than the last kiss. Nini pushed him back against the throw pillows she’d laid out earlier, moving so she was sitting on his lap, her lips never leaving his. He was holding her with a delicate touch, sending shockwaves down her spine every time his fingers brushed her skin.

Nini’s hands traveled upward from where they rested on his chest up to his hair; her fingers tangled themselves in his hair, messing it up more than it was already. She tried to commit every sensation to memory, from the way he touched her to the way he lightly nipped at her lower lip to the way his warm breath fanned across her face. Over the two years they’d been dating, they’d kissed countless times, but the feeling would never be any less exciting—foreign and familiar, safe and dangerous, messy and calculated all at once.

She pulled away from him for just a moment to breathe, and he tightened his grip on her hips as she moved one leg overtop of him, straddling his hips. He smiled at her for a moment, ever the sweet boy she’d fallen for, before leaning in and pressing a kiss beneath her jaw.

With every kiss he trailed down her neck, Nini felt more and more warm, enough to make her wonder how she’d ever felt so cold in the first place. Eventually, Ricky buried his face in the neckline of the hoodie, pressing a kiss just below her collarbone. Nini held on tighter to him, her heart racing a hundred miles a minute.

Ricky was breathless when he rested his head on her shoulder. “Gosh, I love you.”

“I love you too, Ricky,” Nini whispered, hugging him tightly. “Thank you for the hoodie.”

“Anytime, babe. My hoodies are practically your hoodies at this point.”

Nini giggled. “Should we get back to the movie?”

He glanced past her at the screen. “It’s nothing I haven’t seen a million times already. I just want to kiss you some more right now.”

“Works for me,” she agreed before kissing him again.
