Work Text:
Wind beat hard against the window, it rattled from the pressure. Near said window sat Yuki, wearing some winter pajamas, with a tired look on his face. Yuki looked at the clock nervously, it was getting late, Momo was nowhere in sight. Did he slip on ice? Is he snowed in at work?
Looking outside, one would see how harsh the snow really was, it piled heavily on the ground. Flakes thrashed and rampaged midair, creating a webbed mess of snowflakes and snow dust wind. Yuki’s fingers fidgeted with each other, he kept glancing from the window to the clock to the door in a rhythmic order, hoping his partner would return home soon. He grew more antsy every second, while trying to keep his anxieties at bay. Worst case scenarios kept playing like movies in his head, he tried to stop them but nothing helped.
At that moment he saw a figure coming into view, they were covered in head to toe with layers of snow. They moved slowly as the wind forced them back, but with great force and stamina they pushed through. Upon closer inspection, a familiar winter coat adorned their frame, it was easily recognizable once close enough. Yuki couldn’t take his eyes off them. With great relief he rushed towards the door as fast as his tired body would take him. Only a blanket was draped over his pajamas, yet that didn’t stop Yuki from making his way out to the apartment complex balcony. He gripped the railing tightly, “Momo!!”
The figure stopped dead in their tracks, looking up at Yuki in confusion, seeing said man standing out there with so little on instantly scared them. Like a salmon hungry bear, they ran to the outdoor stairs, paying no mind to their own surroundings. “Yuki-San! What are you doing?! Momo was almost home!”
Yuki had watched the scene play out and with no better judgment moved towards the same direction. He wanted to make sure Momo didn’t slip on any ice the stairs may possess. Within a few seconds both men were nose to nose, looking at each other frantically. Yuki eyed Momo for a few moments, the man was shivering even with his thick coat. Despite the cold, they just stood there in silence for a few seconds, only light chittering of their teeth could be heard. With worry in his gaze, Yuki spoke first, “What took you so long?!”
Momo didn’t say anything yet, realizing his partner was starting to turn red from the cold. He jumped into action pushing Yuki back into what little warmth their cheap apartment could provide. Momo shut the door behind him, and looked back over at Yuki quietly. His partner looked like he was about to get a runny nose. “Yuki-san, you’re shivering…”
“Speak for yourself.” Yuki cupped Momo’s cheek and Momo leaned into the warmth without thinking. Both boys were shivering up a storm, for even within the confines of their home, cold got in. Momo became quite flustered once he realized what he had just done. Yuki let out a small chuckle in response.
The gray haired man, removed his hand as his expression became more sour, “Will you answer me now?”
Momo turned timid, moving his hand up against the back of his head, scratching it nervously. His eyes avoided Yuki’s gaze, “The manager told me to wait for the snowstorm to clear a bit before leaving. But it was taking too long already, so Momo left when she wasn’t looking…”
His eyes met Yuki’s once again to see the questioning look his partner gave. But within another second Yuki sighed, and started moving towards the kitchen, after putting his blanket on a chair, he turned back to Momo, “I’ll make tea to warm us up.”
Momo jetted to a stiff position and nodded his blushing face, “Momo will get out the futons!”
Both of Re:Vale got to work, Momo made sure to put both of the futons side by side. From what his manager had said the snowstorm was going to last a fair amount of time, reaching into the early morning. Within a few minutes everything was set up, Momo had changed into a night t-shirt and pair of sweatpants, already wrapping his futon comforter tightly over his body. Yuki stepped into the room, carrying two mugs of tea. He handed one to Momo and set the other one down on the floor.
Yuki crawled into his futon and sat up. His gaze followed Momo for a second, he was still slightly red from both being flustered and the cold. Momo was staring off into space, cupping the warm beverage and taking light sips. The gray hair moved closer to Momo, placing the back of his hand to the black haired man’s forehead. The sudden gesture only startled Momo, he jolted back and a few drops of hot tea fell on his pants. “EEEP!”
Yuki was stunned, staying in place as Momo placed his cup on the ground and started to look over the spill. He turned his head towards Momo, keeping a blank expression, “are you okay?”
Momo looked at Yuki, and nodded with a giggle, “Momo is fine.”
Yuki gave him a tender smile, he picked up his tea and took a sip. Momo would soon join him and the two would go about for a time, just chatting away and drinking their tea.
An hour passed quickly, Momo had gotten up to take their mugs to the sink. Yuki watched him closely from the other room, his partner looked kinda chilly still. He laid down and awaited the blackette’s return. As Momo came back in, Yuki opened up his futon wrap and gestured for him to come in. Momo was taken aback, “Y-YUKI-SAN?!”
Despite Momo’s flustering, Yuki didn’t react much, “You’re still shivering a bit. It’s cold, tonight will be fine.”
Momo nodded hesitantly, despite his obvious unsureness. He moved in with slowly until under the comforter. Yuki closed it up and proceeded to hug Momo tightly. The boy felt tense. Momo looked at him frantically, Yuki just stared, “I’m cold and I need to warm up.”
Yuki knew Momo was gonna be difficult so this should ease his partner’s mind. His hypothesis proved to be correct, he felt Momo’s shoulders loosen. With shaky hands, Momo reached forward, acting as if he wasn’t careful, Yuki would break into a million pieces. However he soon returned the gesture, both were finally locked in a hugging cuddle.
Yuki closed whatever remaining space between them, forcing Momo’s head into the crock of his neck. Momo couldn’t say anything, feeling too overwhelmed from the sensation. Closing his eyes, Yuki took in his partner’s scent, feeling eased. He was here, Momo wasn’t missing, he was right there with Yuki. He let out a sigh of relief, alerting Momo, the latter looked up at Yuki the best he could, “are you okay, Yuki-San?”
Yuki opened his eyes, but didn’t look at Momo, he stared into the distance, “just thinking…”
He didn’t say anything more about the subject, Momo didn’t need him to, he understood those words well. Momo nuzzled into Yuki’s neck, “Yuki-san is so handsome…”
Yuki was taken from his thoughts and chuckled, he rested his chin on Momo’s head and smirked, “thank you…Momo….”
After a few minutes their eyes grew heavy and the two were fast asleep. Snow kept coming down hard outside, rattling the windows and doors alike. Yet those two didn’t care, they were peacefully resting, feeling at ease in each other’s embrace.
FIN.
