Work Text:

“2!”

”12!”

”4!”

”10!”

”6!”

”8!”

”I’m not going above 6 House!”

“Then I’m not doing it!”

Cameron, Chase and Foreman could hear House and Wilson arguing down the corridor. They walked into the office as the two men came to an agreement.

”Fine, 8, but if you make any of them cry then the deals off,” Wilson said.

”Deal,” House replied.

”8 what?” Cameron asked.

”That is how many hours of clinic duty Wilson is going to do for me if I help out with his bake sale,” House answered.

”We’re doing some baking with the children in the paediatric department, a lot of them miss out on normal childhood stuff so we’re going to go through the hospital and have a bake sale,” Wilson explained, “they’re going to raise money to get some better toys.”

”And you want House to help?” Chase queried.

”He is surprisingly good at baking,” Wilson replied.

“That is a surprise,” Foreman commented.

”But apparently I’m not even allowed to make them cry so I’ll get no fun on the day,” House stuck his bottom lip out as he spoke causing the three younger doctors to smirk.

”And the day is tomorrow House so make sure you get plenty of sleep because I will be dragging you out of bed to get here on time,” Wilson grumbled.

”But mom!” House called out sarcastically. Wilson ignored him and left the office.

Wilson and House got there on time the next morning and Wilson arranged all of the doctors and nurses that were helping out to get everything set up. House tried to get out of setting up but Wilson wasn’t having any of it and when House went to sit down and put his feet up he found himself sitting on the floor instead.

”Yeah that’s right, just bully the cripple,” House said, looking up at Wilson who was holding the chair.

”Oh sorry did you want this chair?” He questioned, trying not to smile.

”No it’s fine, the floor’s actually quite comfortable,” House replied, stretching his legs out.

”Get up and help House or the deal’s off,” Wilson told him sternly.

”You’re no fun,” House grumbled, getting to his feet.

Before long they had everything set up and the room was filled with children.

“This is such a nice thing you’re doing for them Dr Wilson,” one of the moms said when she came over to the two men.

”Thanks,” Wilson replied, “it’s nice to see the kids smiling, don’t get that a lot in our line of work.”

”I bet,” she commented, “maybe after you’re done here I could treat you to a cup of coffee or maybe some dinner, just to show my appreciation of everything you’ve done for my daughter,” Wilson was about to reply when House stepped in.

”Actually we have dinner plans tonight,” he told her, “oh sorry, I probably should have introduced myself, Dr Gregory House, I’m Wilson’s partner,” the woman put on a smile.

”Nice to meet you, I’m Sandra, Dr Wilson has actually mentioned you to me before, sorry I didn’t realise you two were together, I wouldn’t have basically asked you on a date,” she said.

”It’s been just over a year,” Wilson replied, “I don’t usually tell all my patients family that I’m dating a guy because some people seem to have a problem with that.”

”Oh I completely understand,” Sandra said, “although Dr Wilson it doesn’t look like you did too badly, he’s quite handsome,” Wilson chuckled slightly at this.

”He is,” he agreed, “but I’d rather not fuel his ego too much, wouldn’t be able to get his head through the door,” Sandra laughed at this before excusing herself and leaving the two men alone in the corner of the room, “jealous much?” Wilson asked.

”I don’t know what you’re on about,” House replied, “but I do know that you think I’m handsome,” he teased.

”And I know that Sandra is probably the biggest gossip and is currently talking to the Peterson’s about us,” Wilson said, House looked over and saw that they were being looked at.

”Does it bother you?” House asked.

”No,” Wilson replied, “I have actually talked about you to patients before when they ask if I’m seeing anyone, I don’t really try to hide it, but for some reason even though I’ve spoken about you before to her she just assumed we were roommates.”

”Probably because she has a crush on you and was in denial,” House teased him again.

”Probably,” Wilson agreed, “now, go help some kids bake cakes before I have to knock hours off of the clinic time that I’m covering.”

”Fine,” House grumbled.

By the end of the day the two men were exhausted, they sat in Wilson’s office, snacking on cupcakes that Wilson had bought. When House had finished his cupcake he laid down on the couch, his head in his boyfriend’s lap.

”I think that cupcake was definitely one of the ones I helped to make, I can tell because it was delicious,” he said.

”This one must have been as well,” Wilson commented, “here try some,” he took some of the icing off the top with his finger and dolloped it on House’s nose.

”You’re an ass,” House chuckled, he sat up and quickly gave Wilson a kiss, causing the icing to get on the other man’s face, “now we’re even.”

”You think that would bother me?” Wilson questioned, he pulled House in for another kiss and as soon as they broke apart House found himself getting a face full of cupcake.

”Did you really make me let my guard down just to betray me like that?” He questioned.

”Did you really fall for it?” Wilson shot back. House glared at him before moving off the couch and grabbing another cupcake from the plate of them that were on the desk. He turned around and tried to rub it in Wilson’s face as the oncologist grabbed his arms to stop him. They grappled for a bit before House managed to smear the dessert on his boyfriend’s face. By this point House was sitting in Wilson’s lap and they were both covered in cake and icing, they laughed at the sight of each other.

”You know, this shirt is my favourite one and now it’s ruined,” House said.

”No it’s not,” Wilson argued, “your favourite is that one I got you a few months ago and that’s just because I got you it.”

”You make it sound like I actually like you,” House replied.

”Oh yes, how foolish of me to insinuate that Gregory House actually has a heart,” Wilson commented.

”That is foolish,” House said, “everyone knows I’m just with you for the sex,” Wilson chuckled at this before pulling House in for a kiss.

”I think I’m alright with that,” he said in between kisses.
