Work Text:
The strawberries taste as a fine wine should. The flavor is sweet and tart and fresh and fruity and ripe. They're wonderfully tender and delicious and heavy on the tongue. They're just perfect, and Jin is ready to finally rip them out from the stem, as many as his two hands can carry.
His feet were eager to travel through the fields, a warm spring day awaiting just a few kilometers away, on his uncle's farm.
"Where are we?". Yoongi's voice is raspy, a little coarse even. But that's just how it sounds when he wakes up from a nap, this time accompanied by a small groan as his back aches from sleeping in the passenger seat.
"We're almost there, you can go back to sleep if you want". Jin said without taking his eyes off the road, it was very early in the morning and he knew his partner would be cranky after waking up before dawn to arrive at the farm early, mostly just to avoid harvesting at noon, when the sun hit the hardest.
"I'm fine". Yoongi appreciated the gesture, but he forced himself awake just to admire the scenery. He lowered his window just a little to let the fresh air make him feel awake.
The countryside was beautiful. And the cool breeze smelled of spring, the winter finally leaving and allowing the wildflowers to go haywire on the side of the road. Yoongi did have a sense of natural beauty, there was truly nothing like admiring the fresh crops illuminated by the dawn that was peeking through the morning dew.
"I didn't know it was bell pepper season". Yoongi muttered, still admiring out the window but closing it, his cheeks feeling a little too cold.
Jin observed, his eyes glued to the field in front of them. Yoongi followed his gaze and saw a few small red peppers poking out of the ground. "Yeah, spring has a lot of crops, my uncle also has potatoes".
"You're allergic". Yoongi noticed, worrying a little about Jin's health.
"They're not near where we're going, I'll be fine" Jin smiled, turning his head to Yoongi for a second to give him a smile before sneaking a hand onto his thigh, just letting it rest there for a while and kept driving, gently stroking the fabric of Yoongi's jeans with his thumb every now and then.
Yoongi, even if he liked to act as if he didn't want it, loved the attention, he kept looking out the window and fluttering his eyes, still sleepy.
But there was no sleep for long, he looked back at Jin and smiled just as shyly as he did before, quickly looking down as if he was embarrassed, chuckling a little before looking around again as if trying to find something.
"How far is it?". Yoongi asked, looking in the distance.
"Ten minutes or so". Jin answered, this time giving Yoongi's thigh a gentle pat before removing his hand to take the steering wheel and make a turn, slowing down.
The scenery suddenly changed, from newly seeded crops to full bushes bursting with red tones. And then they arrived at Uncle's farm. The fields stretched out before them, rows upon rows of ripe strawberries waiting to be picked. The sun rose higher in the sky, its light painting the fields in an ethereal hue that made everything look fresh and new again.
They made a final turn before they reached a small house in the depths of the fields, Jin's uncle was already outside and waving to them a warm welcome.
"We're here!". Jin announced unnecessarily, and Yoongi just chuckled. "Yah! I haven't been here in so long".
They stepped out of the car, Jin jogging lightly to greet his uncle as soon as possible and Yoongi following behind. Jin's uncle, Jungho, waved faster and his smile grew larger.
"How are you, my boy?". Jungho asked, walking towards them and pulling Jin into a hug. He just laughed and returned the hug, the familiar feeling of his uncle's embrace was something he missed a lot.
"You must be Yoongi! I've heard so much about you, my younger grandson loves your music" Jungho kept smiling as Yoongi caught up to them, he just bowed and tried to keep his mouth in a straight line, not wanting to sound too excited about his boyfriend's family finally meeting him.
"How was the trip? You guys must be starving" Jin's uncle was surprisingly welcoming, of course, Jin had told Yoongi time and time again that he would be ecstatic to meet him, but he refused to believe his partner and kept his guard up.
"We're great, thank you for letting me come". Yoongi said, giving him a small smile.
"Oh, you're gonna have fun". His uncle said, pulling back and smiling at them both. "I think you'll be surprised, it's been a while since Jin picked strawberries here, nowadays we do everything with machines, but oh boy, when he was a kid he would fill ten boxes all by himself".
They chuckled a bit in unison, and Yoongi could see Jin's ears turning slightly red. Jungho invited them in and Jin could not stop smiling, being back in this familiar place brought him a sense of nostalgia like nothing else.
"Would you guys like some coffee? You'll need the energy for later". Jungho offered, Yoongi nodded but Jin refused, saying that he already drank some on the way there.
"Alright, here you go". Jin's uncle brought a small cup with steaming pour-over coffee inside, and placed a small jar with sugar for Yoongi. He turned to Jin as he sipped from his own mug. "So, how's my brother? I haven't heard anything from him since, well...".
"Wouldn't know what to tell you either, he is still not speaking to me anyway, mom says he's back in Anyang to clear his head". Jin made air quotations on the last three words, resting his back on the chair fully. "I guess they are speaking only when their lawyer is present, it's been... messy".
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that". Jungho didn't want to think about his family being divided any more than he had to. But it was inevitable to mourn ahead of time for what life used to be. He looked around and swirled his cup.
Yoongi grew tense, he stirred the sugar into the mug and took a sip, his heart pounding against his chest as he listened.
"But hey, that's what he gets for being such an asshole, I mean, he's my brother and everything, but still". Jin's uncle sighed and the conversation diverged towards happier memories they shared, leaving Yoongi alone with his thoughts for a second as he finished his coffee.
He felt terrible, like he had betrayed his boyfriend in some way. Jin's father getting a divorce was something that, even if not his fault in a direct way, his relationship with Jin was one of the things that triggered a reactionary chain that led everyone to that dreaded conclusion.
Yoongi just sat there and remembered how things had gone down.
The day Jin and Yoongi came out with the truth and told Jin's parents about their relationship was nothing but a mixed bag of feelings. On one hand, Jin's mother was accepting and caring, a little bit shocked because she never would have suspected them to end up together, but she never used a single word that could hurt them and even pulled Yoongi into a tender embrace. Jin's brother even cracked a few jokes once the crying had come to an end.
Yoongi's family was a little bit cold, with snide remarks and judging looks but their voices never raised, everything felt more or less like a small disappointment. "You're an adult now, you can do whatever you want". But Yoongi was prepared for that and just kept on holding his partner's hand as tight as he could.
Jin's father was another story.
He screamed and his hands waved around forcefully as the most hurtful words spew out of his lips with no filter whatsoever, it was a moment filled with nothing but rage and Jin just stayed silent, a type of anger Yoongi had never seen in all the months of dating him.
"You fucking ungrateful idiot, you just fucking reject everything I try to do for you, no, you fucking reject our family, our business, everything we've sacrificed and you're gonna choose this shit!". Jin's father shouted and Jin just sat there, the way he was just listening to the tirade was unbearable for Yoongi and he wanted to shout and throw something but he couldn't, not when Jin's father was like that.
At one point Jin actually made a comeback, Yoongi hadn't heard it but he clearly heard Jin's father storming off to his room, slamming the door behind him. Jin's mother got worried and Yoongi could hear her calling him, everything in the last months spiraled downwards. Down and down until the fights between Jin's parents ended up in divorce.
"Have you ever tried a durian? Stinky little bastards!". Jin's uncle said and lifted the empty cup in front of Yoongi, making him come back to reality, he hadn't even noticed he had finished the coffee until then. He also didn't notice when Jin had taken his hand under the table.
"We had them in Malaysia! I think we were on tour?". Jin spoke with his characteristic excitement but he never took his attention off of Yoongi, he could sense his nervousness from a mile away.
"No, we had a photoshoot there, in 2015". Yoongi took a deep breath and let go of Jin's hands, almost as if to tell him that he was okay. "And yeah, they can be very smelly". He finally felt at ease and giggled a bit.
"Sometimes I forget how much you two travel". Jungho moved around the room and stood in front of the window, looking outside to the early morning. "Anyway, you should get going before it gets too hot, I'll fetch y'all some boots".
Everyone got up and followed Jin's uncle to the great outside, Jungho gave them rubber boots as the ground was still muddy from yesterday's irrigation. Yoongi looked around at the vast and lush bushes ahead of them, every single one full of delectable strawberries, and got a little excited. Jin handed him a box.
"Your uncle isn't joining us?". Yoongi questioned as Jin adjusted one of the straps in Yoongi's apron, pulling and fastening his partner's gear before his.
"Not really, he'll be enjoying his new harvester over there while we pick the best ones". Jin looked at the horizon, where a barn stood tall over the line where the potato, strawberry, and onion and other varieties of crops met. "I got him some money for the crops and he decided to invest in that I guess". He smiled with fondness and finished gearing up.
"That's nice of you". Yoongi took a deep breath and gripped his box tighter. "How many of these should we fill?".
"These are just for us, I need to pick these because of cross-contamination with the potatoes, but my uncle is bringing enough for everyone else". Jin explained as a light smile took over his lips.
Yoongi was a little taken aback, Jin knew him well, and it felt as if he had read his mind. He wanted to take enough fruit back for every one of the members, but he was a little weary of picking all of them because of the workload.
Yoongi adjusted his hat and looked out at the field as Jin walked away, he bit his lip and wondered to himself again why some things happened like this. They had been together for so long now, so much had changed, but it wasn't that bad, he still loved being with Jin. He followed behind and grinned at the way Jin seemed to always be the more energetic of the two, perhaps Jin's childlike attitude was what kept him sane and away from his negative thoughts.
Jin scolded him for not bringing back up sunscreen cheekily and they giggled for a bit before making their way to the very first line of bushes, kneeling down when Jin told him that he had found the best bush in the row.
Yoongi felt the sun on his skin, the field was so green and it looked as if they were in a different world. He had never felt so alive before, he couldn't wait to fill the box and take it back to the dorm with him. He smiled at Jin and they started picking strawberries together, laughing and joking as they worked.
"Careful not to bruise them, they rot faster". Jin was mainly picking out the fruit while Yoongi held on to the box, he observed carefully and tried to pick out a berry every now and then.
"As if they are going to last long, your box will be gone in a day". Yoongi laughed and shook his head. "I don't blame you, these are too good to stop myself from being a bit greedy". He said as he inspected one of the strawberries in the box and felt tempted to bite down on it.
"I see that side of you more and more lately". Jin said almost as if the words had escaped from his mouth, he paused for a moment and Yoongi's heart skipped a beat. "It's good, it makes me happy to see you like this".
Yoongi blushed and looked down at the ground, he didn't know what to say, these moments felt too precious to waste on words. They worked in silence for a while before Jin finally spoke up.
"My uncle seems to really like you, you know?". Jin placed one more handful of fruit into the box and rummaged through it, finding the cleanest one and wiping it with his hands. "I know it's been hectic these days with the divorce and the fighting but, I want you to know that even at his old age, my uncle and his family really do care for you and they support us, we want you to feel welcomed, even if we struggle to say it upfront".
Jin finished wiping the berry and fed it to Yoongi, who just looked around, still fearful of displaying too much affection in front of anybody. Still, he let Jin place the strawberry in between his lips and he happily accepted it when the mild and yet tasty flavors invaded him.
The oldest one kept speaking as he worked his way around the plant, leaving it bare of fruit. "And maybe this is not the best time to say it but I'm so glad you are still here with me, you make me calm even if my world is crumbling down every now and then, I can't thank you enough for staying beside me".
The bush was finally stripped down of its harvest and Jin felt proud of himself, both for finishing the task and for opening up to his boyfriend after weeks of remaining silent about how he felt about the current climate.
Yoongi looked back at him with a half smile on his lips, he liked the way Jin was so open and vulnerable, he didn't know how much Jin had been bottling up in his mind lately. "How could I ever leave you? Sometimes I think you forget how much you mean to me".
Yoongi thought back to the constant fights and how they had affected them and he was sure Jin was feeling the same way. "I don't know how I would make it without you". He placed his hand on his lover's cheek and he could feel Jin's warm touch on his skin.
"Thank you for being here". Jin nuzzled against Yoongi's hand and let himself feel wanted. The sun had started to rise more and more and its light started warming up their already tired bodies.
"Jinnie-ah!". A voice traveled through the field and interrupted an otherwise tender moment.
Yoongi quickly withdrew his hand from Jin's cheek and looked around, still unsure of what his partner's family would think of him, even if Jin had told him time and time again that they cared for him. The panic was still easily triggered. And even if they were in the middle of nowhere, he could still hear the cameras click in his mind.
The eldest looked around, having recognized the voice of his aunt, and instantly stood up and signaled Yoongi to follow him.
"Oh, dear! My handsome nephew is finally here!". The woman yelled as he saw Jin trotting toward her, a smile growing on his face with every step he took. "You should have woken me up when you arrived Jin!".
Jin whipped his head back to encourage Yoongi, who was walking painfully slowly, to hurry over. "Aunty!".
The woman opened her arms and received Jin in a tight embrace, holding him as close as her small fame allowed her to. She patted his back as they swayed together as a product of her excitement.
"I'm so glad you're here, I was really starting to worry about you". She pulled back and looked him up and down, noting the differences in his appearance. She noticed Yoongi walking toward them. Jin's aunt opened up her arms in the same manner to him, even if Yoongi's first movement in her presence was to bow shyly.
"You must be Yoongi, I'm so happy to meet you, Jinnie-ah has been keeping you so hidden I started to think you weren't real dear!". The woman pulled Yoongi into an embrace, startling Yoongi a little, most people would go for a mutual bow or maybe a handshake, he never expected to be clutched right away by someone he did not know outside of the spoken word.
Yoongi was surprised at the sudden warmth in Jin's aunt's voice and the way she hugged him tightly. He could feel Jin looking at him with a mixture of dread and relief, a timid smile on his lips.
"Nice to meet you...". Yoongi pulled away and looked at her, waiting to be properly introduced.
"Miyoung, but you can call me aunty too, I don't mind". She beamed as the three of them exchanged pleasantries. The woman had this warm aura, one that just made you smile too no matter how shy or anxious one could feel before meeting her.
"Come, let's go inside and get lunch started, you must be tired, and it's starting to get hot". Miyoung took Yoongi by the arm and pulled him along with her as she started walking back in the direction she had come from.
Jin placed the box full of strawberries on a tart just outside the house before following his partner and his aunt into the house, back to where his uncle had served them coffee two hours ago.
"So, how have you two been doing? I heard that your last song was a success, even when I go to the store I can hear it here and there, it's catchy!". Miyoung moved around the kitchen quickly, gathering vegetables and many ingredients, ready to prepare lunch for her nephew and his partner.
"Really? Yoongi produced it, he produces most of our songs actually". Jin added, he felt like bragging about his lover and all his good traits, relieved to finally be able to do so.
"Handsome and talented, I always knew you would end up with someone like that, just like you". Miyoung winked at Jin as she praised them, her smile genuine.
Jin blushed, happy that his partner was getting so much love and acceptance from the better side of his family. Yoongi was too stunned by the sudden informality of it all, it took him a couple of seconds to react.
"I'm glad you like it, I'm just content it's not too different from our other songs". Yoongi smiled at Jin, looking at him with those intense eyes that always made him feel safe.
Yoongi sat there, and Jin hurried over when his aunt seemed to try and handle a bit too much for herself. Yoongi was in awe at the sight, he had expected to be welcomed, Jin had told him that it would be like that, but it was a warmth that he had never experienced, not even from his own relatives. But it felt good nonetheless, strange, but good.
The three of them kept talking about whatever topic came to mind as the lunch was rapidly put together, Yoongi volunteered to set the table and Miyoung directed him towards the most beautiful china he had ever seen and Jin's aunt busied herself with the lunch, serving them all plates of food.
"This looks amazing, thank you". Yoongi complimented her, looking at the array of food. There was kimbap and various side dishes around the table, from kimchi to rice cakes, and a big jug of tea.
"You're most welcome dear". Miyoung beamed at Yoongi before taking a bite of her kimbap. Jin was looking at Yoongi with something akin to awe, his eyes filled with emotions that Yoongi could not read.
They ate in silence for a while, enjoying the food and the company. Yoongi sipped his tea, taking in the sweet, floral scent. He could feel Jin beside him, their hands already intertwined under the table.
"So". Jin's aunt spoke up, having already finished her food. "Since when have you two been together? I heard a lot from your mom but I didn't want to pry". The woman looked at her nephew, who just froze in place for a split second before feeling Yoongi squeeze his hand tighter in a reassuring motion.
"Well...". Jin took a deep breath, steeling himself for the conversation.
"Almost two years, the anniversary is coming up in a few months". Yoongi choked on his words, even with all the sudden bravery he felt, the lump in his throat was making it difficult to speak. Jin's hand tightened around his own, his thumb rubbing small circles in the back of Yoongi's hand.
"That's great, congratulations!". Miyoung seemed genuinely happy for the couple, her smile widening as she looked at them. She started cleaning up after herself, waiting patiently for them to finish their lunch. "I'm so proud of you both".
Yoongi felt a weight being lifted from his shoulders, the fear of having to tell people about his relationship slowly dissipating. Jin's family had accepted them, even if it was somewhat overwhelming, but it was a start.
"So, you're moving in together then?". She asked, her smile turning into a mischievous glint.
"I think-". Jin was ready to diverge the topic, still not sure where their relationship stood after all the weeks of terror that his father had brought to their lives. He had thought about moving in, after all, all the members had been planning to leave the dorm by the end of the year. But at most he had planned to suggest moving into apartments that were close to one another so they could visit often without anyone suspecting.
"That's the plan". Yoongi interrupted, finishing the last bite of his meal without putting much thought into it. It just seemed like the next logical step in his mind.
"Uh, I think so, yeah". Jin blushed, not sure how to react to his aunt's inquisition. Yoongi couldn't help but laugh, glad that his partner was just as caught off guard by the conversation as he was.
"Well, I'm glad you two are finally together". Miyoung smiled at them, her eyes twinkling. "You two make such a beautiful couple".
"Aunty, please". Jin said, lifting his hidden hand to try and cover his face, feeling a little more than flustered. But Yoongi did not let go, their hands still intertwined revealed to the world. "Yoongi!". He whined, his ears getting redder by the second.
The room exploded in laughter. It seemed to Yoongi that this could become a regular scenario in their lives, that room, that field, it grew on him to stay in such a safe place, away from all the ruckus of the big city. For a second, just for a tiny moment, he could see Jin with a more mature look to him, many years down the line, both retired from the idol life and the public eye. Harvesting strawberries and holding hands over the table until they became elderly.
It was a thought that quickly vanished, replaced by the sound of Miyoung laughing and Jin trying to catch his breath. The front door opened and Jin's uncle entered the room, announcing that he had selected the best of the best from his crops, giving the young couple the fruit of his hard work.
"What time are you two leaving?". Jungho asked, eating his own lunch while being accompanied by everyone, Yoongi helping Jin's aunt with the dishes, and Jin washing out their gifted greens. "Not that I want you two to leave, we'd be glad to have you over anytime".
"What time is it?". Yoongi asked, quickly checking his phone and the time it displayed. "Jin, it's almost 4".
"Aish, we should get going soon, Jungkook must be waiting for us". Jin placed the last box of clean produce on a dolly his uncle borrowed him, he seemed to have almost forgotten about the impromptu plans that had appeared that morning.
"I didn't know you had anything planned". Jin's aunt said from the kitchen as she removed her rubber gloves, all the dishes were finally clean.
"Not originally, Jungkook decided to throw a housewarming meet-up, he just moved to his new apartment today, nothing too fancy". Jin told his relatives, and Yoongi nodded as they met eyes. "Thank you for everything".
"Thank you for your hospitality" Yoongi bowed to his newfound family, and was quickly met with another hug from Jin's aunty, his aunty. Jungho shook his hand after helping Jin load everything from the dolly into his car.
"Anytime dear, anytime". Jin's aunt smiled like always, eyes glimmering with endearment.
Once everything was settled, Miyoung hugged them one more time, and Jin's uncle suggested they visit another time, this time with trekking gear and a lot of energy. The air outside was getting a bit cooler as the evening approached.
As they walked out of the house, Yoongi felt a weight being lifted from his shoulders. It seemed like the world was finally starting to look brighter, brighter than it had in a long time. He grasped Jin's hand one more time as they walked to their car, feeling like it was only right to never mind the eyes of his in-laws now.
The road seemed shorter this time around, with more cars moving towards the countryside for a weekend visit, but they were just going back home. They were getting used to the idea of going against the flow, and it seemed much easier these days.
They drove the 45 minutes back to the city, turning up the radio to get rid of the light silence that was occupying the car, not uncomfortable, they were used to the cozy silence they were able to share most of the time.
"This feels so... natural". Yoongi finally spoke, breaking the silence with a small smile, placing his hand on Jin's thigh as he drove, the same as he had done to him earlier. It felt nice, reciprocating what was given to him felt magnificent.
"I know". Jin nodded, matching his partner's smile with one of his own. "I wanted to ask you something".
"Yeah?". Yoongi changed the station to something more mellow.
"About moving in". Jin's voice seemed strangely quiet, and Yoongi was not even sure what caused it to be that way, he felt happy and hoped his partner was too.
"I think it would be nice, or we can at least get apartments close to each other, maybe on the same floor of a building? seems more discrete". Yoongi felt so confident now, there was no trace of shame in his voice anymore, he observed Jin's eyes go wide and chuckled a bit.
"I was going to suggest that! Before, well, all the chaos". Jin responded, amazed at how similarly they thought. He observed the skylines of Seoul moving closer and closer.
"What does it matter anymore? I want to be with you, admittedly, I would love to wake up next to you, with no walls to stop me. But I'll settle for whatever makes you comfortable". Yoongi looked outside the window, the wildflowers still blooming at the side of the road. His thumb made circles around Jin's jeans.
There was a small pause as Jin took it all in and processed his next move.
"You don't have to settle". Jin smiled and caressed Yoongi's hand on his leg when they arrived at a pay toll. Feeling the relief take over his body.
"I heard there are some nice apartments near the Han river, maybe we can spend a week over at each other's place". Yoongi added, the car moved away from the pay toll and kept on moving toward the city.
The afternoon sun started to hit their eyes and Yoongi started to feel sleepy, but he kept on tracing abstract figures into Jin's thigh. He seemed to be thinking about his suggestion. He smiled to himself.
"Sounds nice, I'll take you on dates to the park". Jin added, making a turn as they finally entered Seoul.
"And we'll have dinner at your aunty's every month". Yoongi teased, but deep down he knew Jin would agree if he asked sincerely. And he was going to, someday.
"I'll cook breakfast if you cook lunch". Jin played around with the idea, he could almost picture it in his head. Sunny mornings by the Han river and fresh eggs with kimchi.
"Only if you help me set up the gaming station". Yoongi added, knowing that the moving process was going to be hell with all the consoles and computers involved. He looked at Jin, making eye contact for a second before laughing.
"Deal". Jin agreed to their plans and looked around, trying to find the apartment complex where Jungkook had taken residency.
They kept driving, singing along when the radio plays a forgettable melody that, nevertheless, puts them in an even better mood. Yoongi's hand still rests on Jin's thigh, steady and firm.
Despite their hectic lives, and the fact that Jin never thought his life could feel like this, he is filled with a sense of joy and contentment as he marvels at how infinitely happy he feels with his lover by his side. And so he finds himself wanting to share that feeling with everyone, to tell anyone who will listen just how much he means to him and how grateful he is for their bond.
For Yoongi, this feeling of lightness and happiness is new, and he wants to savor it. He never thought that life could feel so good, so complete. Yoongi was sleepy, being rocked by the movements of the car through the bustling streets and he hardly caught the melody on the radio, but he was already smiling anyway.
"I never thought life would get to be this normal". Jin almost whispers when they arrive at Jungkook's apartment parking lot.
"What normal?". Yoongi laughed, squeezing Jin's thigh once more, in an attempt to be flirty without making it seem weird. "Normal is not your thing, Jin".
Jin smiled yet again, the silent laughter that seemed to be the default setting of their serious relationship. The men got out of the car, not before selecting some of the fruits and veggies Jin’s uncle gave them to present as a gift to Jungkook. They walked up to the elevator after being granted permission by the doorman.
"I'm happy tho, I guess". He said, looking around the elevator and holding the gift in his hands, Yoongi had insisted on carrying it but Jin refused.
"You guess?". Yoongi said, looking at Jin incredulously. "I would say you're as happy as anyone can be".
"I am". Jin smiled as the elevator opened its doors to let them out. "No guessing this time".
Yoongi walked beside Jin in the long hallway that led to their friend's new home. He almost tripped because he could not for the life of him pull his eyes away from Jin's lips. "Do you even know how much I want to kiss you right now?". He whispered.
"But cameras". Jin whispered back, stepping closer to him as they stood in the door frame side by side. He had noticed them since they stepped into the apartment complex.
"Yup". Yoongi kept whispering. "Maybe later".
"Can't wait for later, then". Jin nudged Yoongi's ribs with his elbow, careful to not drop the gift, making Yoongi giggle like a child being mischievous.
The door finally opened.
"Welcome!". Jungkook greeted and his eyes went wide with appreciation when he saw the simple box full of fresh fruit, all to himself.
For what it was worth, Jin was truly happy, like he had never been in his life, and feeling like a child on Christmas morning when, after the meet-up and in the safety of their shared room, Yoongi started searching for apartments near the Han river and asking him what he thought about them, filling his cheeks and lips with gentle kisses.
It felt like the start of something new, a gift, cool countryside air, fresh strawberries, and the excitement of driving back home. It was everything they could wish for and more, even after all the chaos.
From now on, Jin was starting to believe everything was going to be alright. Even more, he got to keep his eternal roommate by his side. That was more than alright with him.
