Broken Suns

Summary:

About three months after the flood, Gotham is being held together by duct tape and Batman's sheer willpower. The expected power struggle in the criminal element is still in full force thanks to Maroni's release. There are whispers among the criminal element of a new player looking to seize control.

Somehow that all falls to a lower priority for Batman with an anonymous message about a cat and a search of Selina's Bludhaven apartment that reveals two important things:

1) Selina is missing.

2) Apparently her "thing for strays" extends to small children.

Or: How three people tormented by grief and hardship become a family.

Chapter Text

So, the bastard had a son.

A son that wasn’t cast off and scorned.

A son that had just returned like a vulture to eat up the scraps of his father’s empire.

Mario Falcone.

John Grayson.

Famous aerialist. Works for Haly’s Circus.

Knows the son. Could even be considered friends with the son.

Good thing the circus has just come to town.

The son is not here.

Yet his name is spoken between the burly man and the fat man.

.They gaze almost gleefully upon the aerialist and his family as they fly.

They can’t be here for the entertainment.

The ropes snap.

The screams.

The fat man does not look happy.

He is gazing at the sobbing boy on the platform with irritation in his eyes.

It’s not kidnapping.

It’s a rescue.

No matter what the police and news outlets seem to think.

She takes care of her cats just fine.

How hard could this kitten be?
