"Aw, Lydia, are you still doing homework?"
"No," Lydia replied, setting her book down before quickly summoning Beetlejuice. "It's a book from the library."
"Reading... on purpose?"
Lydia didn't say a word about Beetlejuice's sudden nerd-glasses or beanie. Instead she just held up the book to show him the cover.
"Chilling Urban Legends," she explained. "None of them are that chilling, but they're all kinds of neat. There's one in here about a ghost who haunts shopping carts-"
"Oh, that's Melvin." Beetlejuice grinned, clearly almost-interested. "Who else is in there?"
Lydia grinned and patted the spot beside her. "Let's see."
