Cressida does not point out that it is now nearly ten in the morning; well before calling hours. Eloise knows that, and, more importantly, Cressida is certain that she does not care.
“What is the solution?”
“John has a cousin. Michaela. She is lovely; she was also at Kilmartin Castle with us. She returned to London this past autumn and she and Francesca became close.”
“Yes, I have met her.” Truthfully, she found Michaela Stirling — the new Countess of Kilmartin — to be engaging — and beautiful, but that is neither here nor there.
“Well,” Eloise says, “perhaps if Francesca will not accept our comfort — that is to say, our family’s comfort — she may accept Michaela’s.”

Perhaps she owes this to Marina, who has only gushed about how lovely sex is, and who talks about her boyfriend, who is studying abroad, constantly. (Posy, like her, is still a virgin, and has made no particular secret of it; she claims she has her reasons, namely true love, and Edwina isn’t one to shatter that illusion.)
