Chapter Text
I was just sitting there, watching him and he didn’t even notice me until Phoenix pointed me out. “What do they call you?”
“Bob”
“What’s your callsign?”
“Um, Bob…”
God I felt so stupid. My callsign was embarrassing to say the least. It was just Bob, and he looked like the kind of guy that was gonna be bullying me for it. They called him Hangman. He was handsome and charming but I doubt he saw me that way. He probably just saw me as some awkward dork.
While he left to grab some beers Phoenix told me to play 9 ball. While I was about to take a shot Hangman took the pool cue away from me. When he did that he grabbed one of my hands and I knew for a fact that wasn’t an accident. Since I couldn’t play 9 ball anymore I went to grab a beer. Then another, and another, and another, and before I knew it I was drunk. Not enough to get a hangover but drunk enough to impair my judgment.
I remember standing in the middle of a crowd of couples and friends dancing. I don’t remember how I got there but I do remember not knowing what to do, whether I should leave or stay. Then it changed to a slow song and I was still just standing there. That was until someone came up behind me and put their arms around my waist. I turned around and looked and surprisingly it was Hangman. I could tell he was drunk though so I didn’t think much of it. “Hey” He said softly.
“Hey” I said back. It was comforting being in someone’s arms. I hadn’t felt that in a while.
Hangman let go of me and grabbed my hand. He led me outside to the side of the bar to where nobody could see us.
“The stars are nice tonight” He said softly.
“Yeah, they are” I replied.
“So, why’d you bring me out here?”
“To do this”
He kissed me right then and there. It was nice but I had just met him and we didn’t even know each other on a first name basis. Not to mention we were both drunk. The kiss was short lived and afterwards I immediately left. I headed to bed and thought about what I was gonna say to him tomorrow.
