Albedo woke up when he heard knocking and an indecipherable child's mumbling. He jumped out of the bed, stepping barefoot on the cold wooden floor. In just two steps he was in the corridor. Their Mondstadt house was silent and dark. The silence was interrupted only by the steady ticking of the clock in the living room and Klee.
The girl stood in front of the locked door, leading to her mother Alice's room. Shivering from the cold in her light red pajamas and hugging the plush Dodoco, the little girl knocked on the door muttering barely intelligible words, urging her mother to let her inside. Klee was not aware of her actions, because she was sleepwalking.
She had been sleepwalking more frequently lately. Albedo tried giving her various calming herbal elixirs to improve her sleep quality, but nothing worked. Fearing for the safety of his “explosive” sister and their neighbors, the alchemist abandoned nighttime experiments that required him to stay in the laboratory of Ordo Favonius and several day long expeditions on the Dragonspine. If he had to be away from home for a longer period, he always left the little girl with Kaeya or Jean, so she could be watched over all the time.
Albedo hugged Klee, gently took her in his arms like a princess, and carried the girl to her room which was next door to his bedroom. Feeling the warmth of his embrace, the little girl grew quiet and involuntarily pressed her frozen body against his. Through the fabric of his pajamas the alchemist could clearly feel how cold her palms and feet were.
"Poor soul, totally frozen," thought Albedo with sadness in his heart. "Who knows how long she wandered around the house barefoot in her sleep, before she started knocking and calling for Alice. It’s strange that my bell didn't ring when Klee left her room. I'll have to check it tomorrow morning," he continued his musings.
In a few minutes Albedo had put the girl into bed, surrounding her with numerous plush toys. After standing for a while and making sure his sister was sleeping sweetly, he was about to go back to his room, but Klee wouldn't let him leave. She clutched the top of his dark blue pajamas with a dead grip. The alchemist smiled understandingly, sighed dolefully, and putting some of the plushes aside carefully lay down beside her. He gently hugged the frozen girl, trying to warm her and give peace to her dreams. Still hugging Dodoco, Klee instinctively hid her face in the folds of the fabric on his chest. Albedo readjusted the red blanket decorated with cloverleafs. As soon as his head touched the pillow he fell asleep.
